Why don't schools reward the truly smart students

    Yes, that's true. However, generally religious groups are very organised when it comes to setting up schools etc. I am thinking in particular of the explosion of relgious influence in schools since the Conservatives in the U.K. have pushed for more private schools. The U.K. has already seen it's first legal battle about creationism in the classroom. I have little doubt that a voucher system would massively increase creationism.

    Quit being afraid of Evangelicals. They are a dying breed anyways, besides this comes down to the big picture. I fail to see how evolutionary science and theories and so on relate to anything of importance among most people's career paths. We can play this science game all day but America needs entrepreneurship again and we can let the extreme nerds do their thang in Ivy League schools and let the rest of us make money and involve ourselves in commerce.

    Most people never use the heliocentric model of the solar system in their careers, so why should we care if people teach that the earth is the centre of the universe? This is important, we are talking about education which includes scientific education. If do you wish to focus on entrepreneurship then it would be foolish to ignore science.
