I see... So, we should just "drill baby drill", and ship out more oil overseas right away, and prices will come down? (that's what another right wing advocate claims here). You confirm that Obama was the reason gas prices dropped a few months back???
Wow, another economic illiterate chimes in. Gas prices are pegged too global economic output. Meaning, the more economic activity, the greater demand for oil, thus it drives prices up. Do you even think before you post? Nevermind, I'm sure we all know the answer to that one.
And who is to decide what is "reasonable"? The government? That experiment has been run many times and it has always failed miserably. Everyone (well everyone except the government "fat cats") winds up equally poor. The only way to determine "reasonable" is a free market where prices for the exchange of goods and services are determined by mutual agreement between the buyer and seller. It is the only "just" system. Imo, anything else is immoral.
Peter Schiff was not being honest. He MUST have edited out the rational responses to his question. Not 100% of democrats are THAT ignorant!
Let's just ban commerce entirely. No more trading. No more buying and selling. Business is evil - ban it. Wealth is evil - ban it. The ultimate society:
i'm sure they would be fine with that until they notice their iPhones don't work, and Starbucks is closed.
When Obama blamed Bush for gas prices, he took responsibility for whatever gas price do during his tenure. Yes that means he can fairly take credit for the small reduction they made a while back, but he must also take responsibility for the fact that they have been higher throughout his term in office that they were when he took office, and he must take responsibility for where they are now. Even during the drop that you are offering to give him credit for, prices remained much higher than they were when Bush left office.
Good God some folks are dense... I was trying to point out the hypocrisy of the right. When gas prices shot up some time ago, right wingers were all over the place foaming at the mouth, claiming it's all because of Obama. Then....when prices went back down a few months ago, the rabid right said the complete opposite, that it WASN'T attributable to Obama, that is was "market forces". Now, they're back up and it's Obama's fault again. I don't believe the President has a (*)(*)(*)(*) thing to do with gas prices personally... was simply trying to show the right wing idiocy. Like I said......DENSE.
One question for you that are obsessed with the income of CEO and business people. First, you pay a CEO what he can do for the company and the stockholders, which by the way covers a lot of you union loving union pension plans. Now for the question. Since you are all down on "business related" income how about the ridiculous income of the entertainment personalities, does their jobs directly relate to the economic well being of the country. This also applies to the professional sports figures.
I agree that the president doesn't control the price of gas. It wasn't me who made that claim, It was OBAMA himself. I'm simply pointing out that by doing so, he has to take responsibility for gas prices - even if he has no control over them.
The fact that more then 3 democrats said yes to banning corporate profits tells you something about the left...
Have you ever heard of economics? That would be insane. Where do the funds come to build new business, pay for the inventory and pauy the wages. That is what profits do.. No profits no jobs, no job, no country. It is a very simple rule.
Corporations are not natural, there is no such thing as a “natural” corporation, they are a government created privilege. Corporations receive special protections from the government, these protections are above and beyond any protections afforded to individuals, and in fact, these protections allow the corporation to violate the natural rights of individuals. Why should a corporation receive greater rights than the individual? Because corporations are government issued privileges, and because they receive extraordinary rights at the expense of the rights of individuals, it is every citizens business how much profit a corporation makes. And it is societies right to take whatever portion of corporate profits they deem necessary or just, because the corporation only exists as a privilege created by government. If your statement was directed toward a business by an individual, without special government protections (privileges) then I would agree. But the corporation is created and sanctioned by the state, and as such, they lose every right to anonymity.
This is a capitalist country. That's not gonna change. Collectivists should move to a communist country.
I was referring to the Mormon Billionaire job outsourcer. The one with the decade of missing tax returns.
Difference is entertainers or athletes are being paid for THEIR service. The harm nobody. They don't look for ways to cut other people's throats for personal gain. CEO's DO. Apples and bananas you're talkin'
Course he is....he claims to only be a 1/4 billionaire, but he hides the bulk of his assets abroad. He' s billionaire. He's a job outsourcer. That's how he got his billions.
The corporation certainly doesnt. Corps have private people that make them up. That gives them EXTREME leverage and advantage over the PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL MAN, that used to be accounted for when their charters had to be renewed and they did not have anywhere near the rights of a man BUT THEY DO NOW and a man dies after 100 years but corps now live forever, hence creates a wealth pyramid sceme over time as it was brought here from feudal UK. VERY SMALL world indeedy
