Our economy must have really been on the verge of collapse during the 80's and 90's, then.

Dumb comment again. But I guess that's all you can reply when you know you're facing a truth that can be proven.

Why else do you think the price of gas suddenly came down from a hih of $4.12 a gallon in August 2008 directly after the september 2008 Wall Street crisis (triggered by Bush's policy of "laisser faire" and his huge spending on unnecessary wars and tax cuts that helped to destabilize the economy to the near collapse of the economy)? Was that just a coincidence?

You know absolutely nothing. Bill Clinton caused the mortgage crisis.

Bill Clinton's drive to increase homeownership went way too far
Add President Clinton to the long list of people who deserve a share of the blame for the housing bubble and bust. A recently re-exposed document shows that his administration went to ridiculous lengths to increase the national homeownership rate.

Minorities' Home Ownership Booms Under Clinton but Still Lags Whites'
It's one of the hidden success stories of the Clinton era. In the great housing boom of the 1990s, black and Latino homeownership has surged to the highest level ever recorded. The number of African Americans owning their own home is now increasing nearly three times as fast as the number of whites; the number of Latino homeowners is growing nearly five times as fast as that of whites.

HOMEOWNERSHIP AND ITS BENEFITS - 1995
At the request of President Clinton, the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD) is working with dozens of national
leaders in government and the housing industry to implement the
National Homeownership Strategy, an unprecedented public-private
partnership to increase homeownership to a record-high level over the
    next 6 years.

Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending
In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

    Bill Clinton, Home Wrecker
"I want to target new (housing) markets, underserved populations, tear down the barriers to discrimination wherever they are found," Clinton said. "We have to do a better job of reaching the underserved; of eradicating discriminatory practices that prevent minorities from finding, financing or buying the home of their choice.

"We can widen the circle of homeownership beyond anything we have ever seen," he added.

Indeed, Clinton's policies for the first time threw millions of previously unqualified buyers into the mortgage mix, fueling an unprecedented housing bubble.

Don't expect substance from certain liberal posters. They simply regurgitate what the left-wing media tells them to regurgitate. They don't even understand it, themselves, most of the time.

No, rapid economic slow down less demand less purchasing, less inventory, higher price. You know capitalism at work.
You might remember that up until the last year of bush2 gas prices were as high as they are now. They plummeted along with the jobless numbers.

And, interestingly enough Mitt said that the measure of whether an energy policy is working or not is the price at the pumps!!!!! He can be this incredibly simplistic because the righties don't believe in global warming anymore because the Koch brothers told them so.
Funny but once again he was on the complete opposite side of these issues:

“I don’t think that now is the time, and I’m not sure there will be the right time, for us to encourage the use of more gasoline,” Romney said, according to the Quincy Patriot Ledger’s report at the time. “I’m very much in favor of people recognizing that these high gasoline prices are probably here to stay.”

"He put forward a sweeping “Climate Protection Plan” in 2004, which included, among many other things, calls for more car-pooling, public transit and tax breaks for motorists who bought hybrid vehicles. Clean energy was the future, Romney declared at a conference in 2005: “This is an industry that is going to be explosive in its growth in the next decade.”

A true salesman. say anything to close the deal. that was then and this is now. I find it amazing that a person can go thru such a comprehensive ideological transformation in a the space of two primaries, unprompted by anything other than the desire to be elected.

The WORLD ECONOMY was wiped out.

For SIX MONTHS, there had been MOST OF A MILLION layoffs PER MONTH!! WHOLE INVESTMENT COMPANIES DISAPPEARING.

    Work came to a STANDSTILL!

    The GDP DROPPED BY 3%.

Of course gas prices dropped. GAsoline use dropped 300 MILLION BARRELS PER DAY in 2008 under BUSH!

And it STAYED DOWN in 2009!

Romney is suggesting a WORLD WIDE ECONOMIC CRASH as the "solution" to high gas prices.

And Romney will GIVE US THAT EXACT ECONOMY, too.

That part about Bush's policy of laissez faire is a fcking LIE.
His tax cuts EXPANDED the economy. It was DEMOCRAT policies that tanked the economy in 2008.
