European jews immigrated to the land legally, according to the law of the land at the time, established and enforced by Britain of all countries. And Arabs were migrating to the area as well, often illegally, looking for employment and opportunities, provided by these european jews.
The last time there was a ground offensive in Gaza the IDF shot up a couple of buildings they shouldn't have, and Hamas took an Israeli soldier hostage and held him for two years before the Israeli government could come to an agreement with his hostage takers. Maybe Bibi just felt ground forces weren't worth the potential headaches.
It's true. Israel is full of American and European Jews. They are called Zionists. They got a small bit of land that they've expanded by kicking the butts and taking the land of Arabs that attack them. It's how most countries are formed. If this were in the US, the Palestinians would be called Indians and Gaza would be a Reservation, Chief. I live where I do because the Kaskaskia and Shawnee Indians went to war with each other and nearly wiped each other our in a running battle over hundreds of miles. We came here and kicked the survivors into reservations where they died out.
