Does anyone think that Borat is in the Missad? I am thinking he could not make it into the proper one.

This was a conflict between Hamas and the Israeli government. Hamas support amongst Gazans has increased during the last week while the Israeli governments support amongst Israelies appears to have reduced. From that perspective, Hamas won. Realistically, the people of both sides lost.

Actually their idea of winning is killing all jews and wiping Israel off the map. They are quite open about it, it's in their charter, you know. But if they did kill a bigger than expected number of Jews they would have had a case to claim victory. They tried and they failed. Instead their infrastructure was wiped out, their members (including senior members) were killed and they were forced to accept a ceasefire without Israel even bothering to resort to ground invasion.

If this is how Hamas wins, I can only wish them more victories. LOL

You should do some research on Farid Zakaria. He is one of the leading intellectuals in american media. He is respected by virutally everyone in the business and in his audiences. He is also respected by any number of world leaders he has interviewed.
The guy is incredibly smart and takes on the big global issues of the day. His opinion is something to be respected, even if you are ignorant of who he is.

It is amusing to see that when the shoe is on the other foot, you are prepared to dismiss a valid perspective as being somebody's opinion and equate the opiner to an ********. When I make such a bone head mistake about a source, I at least am man enought to admit it.

    Are you?

Yes. And you agree. That to you would = winning.

Or failing that, as many Jews, by better means than now.

It is a characteristic of the arabs to claim victory no matter what the real outcome is.

Like Abu who claimed that egypt won a strategic victory by having their army surrounded and the IDF tanks 40 km from Cairo.

Hamas claims a victory with most of their infrastructure destroyed, at least 3 commanders killed, 140 palestinians dead, of which half were innocent civilians.

Israel pulls a subtle maneouver on Egypt, making her responsible as a guarantor of Hamas behaviour. A trap that mubbie nor sadat nor nassar fell for.

Morisi comes out looking very good, a pragmatic leader willing to engage with both the US and Israel. Not what many expected from the BoogieMan muslim brotherhood.

BiBi comes out of it with shored up support and the ability to focus the campaign on security instead of the economy. A win for him unfortunately.

What did hamas get? a cessation of the bombing, prevention of an invasion, a promise that their top military commanders won't get assassinated, a promise to discuss the blockade (yuk yuk), That is basically bupkiss. Then there is the ego stroke of Hamas leadership, as foreign ministers came to talk some sense into these idiots. Mashaal and the gang were finally getting some attention from some governments.. Oh boy that made the feel good, even if it gains their people exactly nothing.

Yes, a great and brilliant victory until Israel once again reaches a threshold of how many rockets its willing to absorb before taking action. Mashaals claims that Hamas has stopped the threat of invasion forever is sheer fantasy.

so for all you who think Hamas has won a stunning victory, I hope you enjoy your little excursion into an altered reality. I fear it won't be long before the bombs drop and the blood flows once again. I hope I'm competely wrong, but I won't bet on it.

I see a cease fire as a victory for the people of both sides, because killing civilians only tends to serve the fanatics of both sides.

This whole situation is all obviously being moronically (mis)managed... Neanderthals feeling like being big boss makes it justified to beat down all others. Kind'a makes it interesting how if a pure beautiful soul of a guy were to knock up a gazillion women from his endless sperm it might not be a problem for the species.

What they all need is money to spend in order to facilitate trade. There was a time during the middle ages lasting about 150 years when tin was used for coin. It would go black, so they had to spend it quickly, or it would go black.

During that short time the skeletons we find in their graves grew by an inch or two...evidently because they were eating better.

Then it went down again... but it is from that time we have images of royal palaces dancing with people in colorful clothing and jesters.

So now we have a time again with people capable of creating false money like tin from ownership of the Federal Reserve, and what are they doing?

Let's take another look at the claim that Hamas "won". The only achievement they can point to is the Mursi-brokered ceasefire (not a "peace treaty") and grandiose claims that they made Israel back off. What they did have happen is a week of terror in their lives and the destruction of infrastructure that had nowhere near recovered from the last Israeli assault on Gaza years ago. The blockade is still in place and their prospects for either victory over Israel or a reasonable peace treaty are just as remote as they were a month ago. For all this, they managed to kill half a dozen Israelis and make them expend a lot of bombs and ammunition. The only successful terrorist attack was carried out by Fatah (the Tel Aviv bombing).

So in what way did Hamas "win"?
