Hostess had too Many Unions and Too Many Ungrateful Union Members

The role of union leadership is to get the best deal for their members. If those things are in a contract it is because management said "yes." Repeat that with me so we can all understand. MANAGEMENT SAID YES TO EVERYTHING IN THE CONTRACT.

Management has all the power. Management can say no and if the workers strike, management can fire them and hire new non-union workers.

Show me a single contract with any union EVER, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE where the union forced management to sign.

A management decision at Hostess specifically aimed at eliminating union jobs put this company on the path to failure. No union "thug", "boss", or even junior member made the decisions. Management did. Since then the union and workers have negotiated several wage and benefit cuts to keep the company afloat.

I say let it go under and put the union pension fund first in line for each and every asset. Let the vulture capitalists start taking these things in the shorts and they'll be less inclined to destroy companies like this.

If Romney were President he'd have most likely shipped the jobs over to china. So either way they'd have lost their jobs.

 

Hostess filed for bankruptcy as far back as 2004. The financial problems existed before the problems with the unions. Because they were in a financial crunch, they had to make cutbacks to their budget and that sparked the union outrage. It was competition and a financial crunch that caused the situation with the unions. The unions did not cause Hostess to close down, they just sped up the process.

 

Not exactly, but if so, it just provides more proof that Unions destroyed hostess.

Hostess still had union thugs working there years later that were too lazy to go look for another job.
They would rather strike and take down a good company, it's called progressive-ism.

What I'm saying is that the financial problems came before and created the union problems when wages were cut. Therefore unions were not the root of the problem, they simply sped up the process.

You don't know union bosses well, they caome from the main office and do not lack for luxeries, unlike those that lose their jobs. They get paid all along to the next place!
