And push back hard in the voting booth at 2014 mid-term, just like they did when the Democrats passed Obama Care in 2010. They shoved that through in early 2010 and lost 63 seats in the House and 6 in the Senate that following November. I can't believe the politicians in Washington are that dumb....conniving, underhanded, self serving, lying bastards yes, real dumb...hardly. In the last 48 hours a man mowed down 13 or 14 kids with his car and within the last month or two another attacked kids 22 at school with a machete in China where private gun ownership is nearly non-existent.

Our time and effort would be far better spent on finding out what is at the root of the ever increasing violence.

"Assault weapon" is just a term used by supporters of gun control to try to scare people. It used to be that an "assault weapon" referred to an automatic gun, now the anti-gun media is trying to stretch the meaning to include an ill-defined class of semi-automatics. This has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with a certain group of people wanting to ban all guns, one by one.

By the new definition, "assault weapons" are arguably no more dangerous than any other type of gun.

If so many people were really buying all these "high powered" guns, would that not seem to indicate that the public may be against more legislation regulating what type of guns people can buy?

If the UK had not essentially banned guns, perhaps they would have been a little more cautious about which people they took in from other countries.

Make, Australia is an island and smuggling is quite difficult. The U.S. Border is about 5525 miles with Canada
and with Mexico it's about 1996 miles. Bans on anything with that big of a border footprint on dry land is simply near impossible.

Which rights might they be? If you're referring to firearms there never was such a right to give up. Our Bill of Rights of 1689 permitted possession of firearms "as allowed by law".
