1) They would fail.

Look at this way, when you vote, you're exercising political authority. You're using force. And force, my friend, is violence, the supreme authority from which all other authority derives.

Authoritarian states are derived from this process, and do not under any circumstance under estimate the passion nor resolve of an effeminate liberal to want to control his fellow man. Guns don't fill the void of their desire for control as only that can be mitigated through the all encompassing power of government force, rather than the individual force of which firearms allow. European disarmed societies like England have this, and we want it.
