Pat Robertson is enough to make everybody question the existence of God.

All tossers whose ‘theology’ is cringe-worthy. But why should the existence of cringe-worthy believers make one question God? Michael Ruse once said that reading “The God Delusion” by Dawkins made him ashamed to be an atheist. But that embarrassment surely won’t make him a theist, nor should it do.

I agree. Any world view will have their share of idiots. I wouldn't judge evangelicals after Pat Robertson, just as I wouldn't judge atheists after Stalin.

If I actually saw a point in me doing so I would have already converted to a religion myself. Their's a lot of atheists on this board that are just so obnoxioux and evangelical that I would rather put as much distance between myself and them.

You've provided, what I'm assuming, are your "examples" of an "evangelical mind". If you have a definition, we could start a meaningful conversation, if not, then you've made yet another meaningless post........

Atheism is a sort of mental retardation just as many man-made religions.

To "judge" God you have His Holy Word. Everything you need to know about God is in the Bible. Why you would judge Him based on the actions of men that "say" they are His followers is a wonder to me. I don't judge Obama by Hillary Clinton or John Perry. I judge each of them by their own words and actions. Yet you, and people like you, judge God based on what people that claim they are his followers do and say. If you want to know God, read the Bible in a prayerfull and pondering way. Dont just look at it as a book because that is exactly what it is not. It is a living instrument, much like but more so, the US Constitution. Read the Bible, contemplate it, ask God to open your eyes and don't be automatically biased before you read. If you have an open mind, then use it.

This thread has nothing to do with judging God, it's about how evangelical fanatics drive a lot of people to atheism. Like when you say the bible is a "living instrument", normal folks know that it's as alive as pavement. It's just not true. GOD DIDN'T WRITE THE BIBLE. Constantine's priests put it together to have power over the christian masses. There are more scriptures left out of the bible than are in it. But none of that means that God doesn't exist. It's just means that there were ulterior motives for why it was put together. The bible is no holier than the Koran, Torah, or any other book. Christianity DOESN'T have a monopoly on God.

If you want the definition, you can find it in the dictionary. I don't make posts to live up to your idea of what a meaningless post is or isn't. If you don't like this thread, eh, you're probably not the only one.

You refer to the Fundamentalists, then.

What these guys tried to do was to take advantage of an initial surge of interest in Christian morality when they attracted and built what was then called The Moral Majority.

The liberal, Homosexuals, and Feminists reacte to this sudden attention by the general public in what was a short lived revival.
These special interest groups began ridiculing tye Bible, especially Genesis, which was the basis of Falwell's cry from Religion.

Their attack was to claim sexual morality out of touch and based upon unfounded religious beliefs, in particular those derived from a Bible which, in their argument, did not make scientific sense, hence where just myth based nonsense in regard to Sociology and Psychology.

That worked for them, because Falwell, et al, attempted to stone wall Creationsim and had no reaoned response to answer back otherwise.
Today, Theistic Evolution use science to show that Genesis divinely revealed the facts of the Creation.

I believe that our lord (inside our mind, his kingdom within) did dictate to the Bibe writers the very thoughts we read there.

We must remember that the Bible was canonized, not by Constantine, but under the reign of Emperor Theo I, in 382AD.
And, we must remember that what Constantine did in 313AD was to author the Edict of Toleration that stopped the Roman persecution of the very Christians he later championed.

It was these martyrs of 313AD that Constantine favored again in 325AD when again, the heretics preaching Arianism lost out of Constantine's favor as he stood again by the martyrs who had willing given their lives for those previous tens years rather than recant the Gospels they held to be true.

The right Christians and the right scriptures seem secured then, under the circumstances, that Constantine's mother had converted to Christianity, but Constantine had not then done so himself, yet.

With your own words you convict yourself of foolishness. This thread has everything to do with judging God. You are judging God when you leave to become an atheist based on what men do. Obviously, you are too obtuse to understand the meaning of a living instrument. If you cant comprehend that then there is no point in explaining it to you. God proved He wrote the Bible through the thousands of prophecies He made that came true exactly as He said they would. You are such a fool. You think Constantine wrote the Bible to control his people? I wasnt aware that he was alive in the first century. The various writings about Christianity were reviewed by a Council of Bishops and what was known to be true was accepted and what was not true was not accepted. Like all atheists you think God is a man and not the creator of the universe. You ascribe manlike weaknesses to the being that brought the universe into existence. You puny man, you are like an insect to the Most Powerful God. Too bad I wont be there to witness you trembling when you are face to face with God. You disgust me.

It was Constantine's hand-picked selection. Nothing divinely inspired about it. He used it as a political tool. His edict of toleration was a strategical choice.

no, you CANT find it in the dictionary. Its something you've made up, and judging from the rest of the comments, you have a habit of that. As far as "liking" the thread, Its like most others, nothing special, just a persons ideas in a digital format, nothing more and nothing less.

Wow, I'm flattered but you only had to say it once (I'm kidding, I know what happened, it happens to me). Thank you very much.
