I don't think it's irrelevant, and we had world support. Human shields are on Iraqis, not the US troops. We agree that nobility is one reason to go to war. There are several, and there were many in going to war in Iraq (oil was one, not the only). Not sure I agree that Iraq had no plans of occupying other countries. They certainly had a history of it. Kuwait? ((Psst...btw, I wouldn't put much stock in what politicians are saying)).
Who would that have been?? Saddam?? His insane murderous sons?? How was that our fault?? BTW, we do know that terror against Israel did come from Iraq in the form of money paid to the families of terrorists. 100,000s???? What part did the US play? Do you have a clue what we did to help the Russians? The road to hell is paved with good intentions. And the US made Iraq hell on earth with its slaugher of the Iraqi's all for geopolitical games and the power. How about you extrapolate the carnage when using 9-11 with not even 3000 deaths as a starting point. Them US soldiers are responsible for that. Even that dying soldier knows it, and hopes fiercely that the highest in the chain of command is going to beg for forgiveness. You shure can learn from that.
IVAW. Go figure. Do the names of IVAW members Jesse MacBeth and Jimmy Massey ring a bell? The Lies Of Jimmy Massey http://floppingaces.net/2005/11/06/the-lies-of-jimmy-massey/ Jesse MacBeth http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Macbeth
I have already agreed that the 10-year war in Iraq was a mistake. We could have blown up everything useful to Arab jihadists in 6 months and then pulled out. Or just bombed every military target in Iraq from the air without invading at all. But your bitter hatred of men in uniform who are far better than any Euro coward is what labels you a someone with a lot to learn themselves.
hmm what? That does not change the occupying forces are by default responsible for public safety. your question makes no sence The Lancet survey made an estimation of 601,027 deaths. The US helped out with the killings of millions across the globe. For instance: when a dictator got in control of Indonesia, he got weapons and deathlists from the US to remain in power. An estimated kewl million people got slaughtered. That is direct help, while you insanely find Iraq compensating families who get punished because their crime is being related to a terrorist... as helping out terrorism. I don't got a problem with men in uniform,... I got a problem that they are responsible the massacre of 100.000's of Iraqi's. And you call that a "mistake" .... like ups. Seems you lack complete empathy of the value of human life. Oh cry and weep over 3000 people that died in the WTC's... but 100.000's of Iraqi's.. pff. Lets not blame people who got their hands covered in blood... because you know its like real heroic what they did.
*I write this letter on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq War on behalf of my fellow Iraq War veterans" He has no right to speak for the 1.6 million who served overseas in support of the war in Iraq. No one opinion, can represent all opinions. He, in particular, has no right to speak for the dead.
The reasons soldiers fought in the 1700's are different than why soldiers of today fight. Soldiers in the 1700's fought against oppressive governments (kings). Today soldiers have been fooled into fighting FOR the oppressive government.
Most of those Iraqis were united with their 72 virgins by other Muslims. Iraqi's killing other Iraqui's. Or by crazy Libyans, Pakistani's, Afghans babbling Allah Akbar! not American soldiers. So I think you are cheering the death or disablement of the wrong people.
It's is really not only their fault though. Many conservatives are just sick and tired of radical leftists not accepting their share of responsibility in poor decision making. The usa has had a long string of horrible presidents dating back to woodrow wilson, with a couple of good ones in there. Both bushes - horrible, clinton - horrible, nixon - horrible, carter - horrible, reagan - horrible, wilson - horrible. These presidents are all responsible for making poor decisions which all together have helped bring this nation to this point. Wilson - signed federal reserve act Nixon - definition of coruption Carter - horrible economics decisions Reagan - gave amnesty to millions of invaders/illegal aliens Clinton - deregulated mortgage/housing industry, cooperated with war racket Bush sr - fully supported nwo plan, cooperated with war racket Bush jr - fully supported nwo plan, cooperated with war racket Obama - fully supports nwo plan, cooperates with war racket The problems this nation faces today are because of stupid americans that believe in the two party system and spend all day pointing fingers at the opposition while refusing to acknwledge their part in the downfall.
Americans soldiers have not been fighting for a dictatorship so far. But that could change if obama ever orders them to kill Americans who refuse to to bow to his executive orders. But we are not there quite yet.
I suppose some people are comfortable keeping the story simple. Just a soundbite that Bush bashers can understand. War bad, Bush evil, America mean, greedy, selfish. But it is not that simple for me.
I love how the Leftninnies keep ignoring the FACTS that every Democrat on the Senate Intell Committee saw the EXACT SAME INTELL as the Bush Adm., as reached the EXACT SAME CONCLUSION; how we KNOW Saddam had WMDs, as he has ALREADY USED THEM, MORE THAN ONCE, ALL of the DEMOCRATS pushing to depose Saddam for just that reason throughout the late 1990's, and right into the 2000's, that Saddam Hussein was cited as the Number One threat to US national security by the CLINTON ADMINISTRATION, that Saddam was a leading supporter of islamoterroism, and the fact that the War was APPROVED by BOTH HOUSES of CONGRESS, on a bi-artisan vote, and how we are now, "suddenly" finding chemical weapons, likely FROM IRAQ, in Syria. They just keep sqwauking "Bush lied!", "Bush lied!", like a bunch of IDIOTS...
The guy joined the army, not to goto war? He didn't have to serve, he could have refused and then would have been discharged.
Yes you have been fighting for a mild dictatorship and imperialism while being told that you are "fighting for freedom" or "the war on terror". Welcome to reality. Enjoy. Oh, Obama has already killed three amerians. But they weren' your friends or family so you don't care. Just continue fighting for the monster so you can get your signing bonus.
Whatever you say private pile. It was rumsfield or cheny, and bush jr, who already admitted on record that iraq did not have wmd's. Soldiers defend war because they fear their usefulness and paycheck going bye bye.
It's easy to see that you grew up in America which has a constitution and firewalls against dictatorship. You have no idea what real dictatorships look like. Nazi Germany and the Communist Bloc nations were real dictatorships. I think we have taken giant keeps toward a real cult leader with absolute personal power under obama. But even he is still slightly restrained by the Constitution that libs seem to hate so much.
Iraq was not a "pre-emptive war"... it was a continuation after the 1991 armistice was violated. The war started when Iraq invaded Kuwait. Also, U.S. planes were shot at making the U.S. response anything but "pre-emptive". I feel really bad for this guy, but for the Huffington Post and Liberal propaganda arms to use him to attack their political rivals is pretty low. They are the same a - holes that posted picture after picture of coffins returning from war and keeping "death counts", but stopped immediately when Barack Obama took office. There is no intellectual honesty here.
I'm not blaming this on Bush. Both parties keep soldiers on foreign soil and have no intention to close bases overseas just so these young men can sacrifice their lives to make a few people more rich in America at beck and call, under the disguise of fighting for freedom. If we don't cut offense spending, neither the world nor innocent American lives can have peace.
The guy played his part of going to war and flatten a country over nothing, and so created the complete choas and so is responsible for the deaths of 100.000's of people for failing to protect them. A terrorist like OBL could only wish he could do such a things to the US. But the US is just so much better at "it".
There are a lot of foreigners posting on this board who hate America and it's a wonder that we endulge your jealous rants at all. You should fix what's wrong with your country and stop bothering us here in America.
Let's see the links to what EXACTLY was said. AS I said, please continue IGNORING tnhe FACTS, and the Democrat claims LONG BEFORE Bush was ever POTUS. So the Kurds were " pretending to be dead from chemical weapons"? Feel Free to continue making up whatever bullcrap you need to be true.
