Dictatorship is America's only hope

Right now, the US looks pretty hopeless. Government is paralyzed, corruption is rampant, the wants of the majority ignored, and there is no hope to fix things. Can't ban the things that make government corrupt because they have the money, can't trust on making a new Amendment because the Constitution is obsolete and corrupt, can't do a ConCon for either reasons of the above. As neither political party can lead or has any integrity, there is one viable solution: Dictatorship.

Right now we have something around 600 politicians between Congress, Senate, and the Executive Branch. Every one of them is corrupt garbage and are cruel psychopaths who would be jailed in any other First World nation and many Second World nations. We allegedly have representation but no politician represents the people, they only represent lobbyists and interests who give them money. There is no constitutional way to fix this except to put in an interim system where there is one uncorruptable politician held to the will of the people.

A dictatorship would be able to fix the government. Lobbying would be made illegal and all lobbyists tried and jailed. In fact, given the overlap with lawyers they may put in a cap on lawyers per capita which would actually help the Millennials given the number of pre-Boomers who won't retire.

A dictatorship would put in a fair healthcare system which doesn't have tons of unintended consequences as the ACA has. A dictatorship would give transitional benefits to the citizens who desperately need them as opposed as making them a perk for aliens. A dictatorship would demolish Big Pharma, Big Prisons, and make greed a shameful act akin to pedophilia. Our prisons would be realigned with nonviolent drug offenders released with their place being replaced by political scum that do not deserve to be free.

After a few years, America then will either dissolve into several smaller nations or be rebuilt to be what the Founding Fathers would've done had they created a nation in the 21st Century with controls in place to make sure things don't get bad again. This dictator need not kill on a whim or do the atrocities that are linked to them. If you can fix this via the Constitution, please let me know because IT CANNOT BE DONE!!!

 

The Constitution is DEAD. The Patriot Act has replaced it. Don't know about the whole dictatorship thing but, certainly something needs to change, and change DRASTICALLY.

 

There is no democratic way to change. None. I live in New England and I'd be overjoyed if they seceded to become the eleventh (through sixteenth) province(s) because then things would be a lot better off for the region and at least 29 people would still be a live because Lanza and the Tsarnaevs wouldn't have been able to pull their fatal stunts.

 

Again, we're a completely divided country. Would secession work? I don't know but I think I'd be will to give it a try at this point, if I could be guaranteed right wingers would stay on their side of the line. They hate us and we hate them so, secession might not be a bad option.

 

Who gets to choose the dictator?

 

One for each side?

 

Given the hypothetical splitup of the US, how would it get done? There'd be a few problem areas that come to mind, where do you draw a line with Upstate New York and do you split Virginia again so that Northern Virginia stays along DC/Maryland?

Any proposal should have California, Texas, and Florida on their own.

Well, it would be a complicated solution for sure but, better than where we're headed with the deep divisions our country suffers from. Maybe trying to let like minded people have their own space is the only solution. I think it's worth consideration.

Um... look, I'm as cynical as the next guy when it comes to our government, but if you're looking to reduce corruption, giving government even more power isn't going to accomplish that.

It may be somewhat futile to push for change via elections, but honestly, you're better off moving to a more functional country than wishing for a dictatorship.

 

You know this idea comes up from time to time, like term limits and others. Here is the thing, the mess in Washington is one of our own doing. We created it and endorse it every two years. When we do have change come the first thing we do is make any future change harder by gerrymandering districts and putting restrictions on voting. (Like the insane notion that settled law like college students voting where they go to college). Tell you what before we try a dictatorship let's try doing our civic duty and voting. let's try running people who are not well connected but well educated on the topics important. Let's make sure that we shame congressmen and women who are corrupt not make them celebrities (Yes I am talking about Charlie Rangel) And let's not run guys who violated 37 ethics rules and used tax payer money for a bootie call all while lying to the entire state he was elected to lead. it really is simple. What if more people of conviction and morals were in Washington and fewer of what we have. I fight for the Democrats because they share many of my values. Would I rather see a better candidate for Congress, the Senate, and President. Been true virtually every time. I have also helped some Republicans get elected because the Democrat running was a complete fool. This is reality.

Since the Constitution was written by God, it can't even be questioned.

After the red states secede, after a civil war or a 'peaceful revolution', I have no doubt that they'll integrate religion (which really means Christianity) into their Constitution, while outlawing abortion, gay marriage and erasing the wrongs done by the commies up north. After their confederacy fails, and it will fail, they'll come crawling back and begging for forgiveness.
