Seriously. How is this bull(*)(*)(*)(*) still actively practiced and taken seriously in modern society? Anyone claiming to be "possessed" is very obviously either mentally ill, or is doing it for attention. I don't get how this, and other insane rituals like snake handing are still around. - - - Updated - - - These are the chicks from the video being interviewed by Anderson Cooper lol. People of all religions believe in demonic possession. Muslims are always performing exorcisms, as well as Catholics. Jesus and his buddies did it all of the time.
And its all hogwash. You would laugh at someone saying they can do magic. Why wouldn't you laugh at someone saying they can pull an invisible demon out of a person?
That's a great idea for a movie. We'll have a zombie perform an exorcism on a whale and the whale's demon will be a talking donkey that's eating a burning bush.
I suppose it's a way for a loved one to save face and their loved ones to not have to admit to all the bad things they have done... cause as we all know... Believers never do bad things, it's always the devil that made them do it .
True. A couple of years ago I had the privilege of witnessing an exorcism of spirits in a Hmong village in remote northern Laos, and have the photographs to prove it. Very interesting.
these dear girls sound about as bright and educated as peeled cucumbers ... the two younger ones had trouble stringing a sentence together, just for starters. imagine giving the psychiatric care of a loved one to a couple of hillbilly teens who apparently care more about flicking their hair in just the right way than they do about educating themselves. but that's not the worst of it .... I'm not at ALL comfortable with the reverend's apparent delight in watching three bouncy teens work up a sweat manhandling another bouncy teen. not at all. then there's the matter of criteria: she dropped out of church and had a headache = SATAN! I tell ya what, if those three dimwits and their hair (not to mention the creepy rev) came at me shouting and waving bibles I think I'd have been considerably more demonic than the poor lass in question. on a lighter note: "are you chinese?"
The issue is, why is exorcism performed by a tribal shaman any different to exorcism performed by a Christian preacher? - - - Updated - - - Bull sh!t.
There isn't. Its hog wash. The difference is you would expect that sort of mystical superstition to persist in parts of a country that haven't aged a day in nearly 1000 years, while in a first world country like America, you would hope people don't seriously think spirits can possess a human body and be removed by yelling at that person and throwing oil on them.
And yet American Christians still believe in exorcism. American Christianity hasn't progressed much further than 17th century Puritanism.
Possession is mentioned a few times in the Bible. The casting out of demons is a gift granted to the Apostles. If you do believe in God and the Devil and if you believe that God has servants like angels then why can Satan not have his own? Now do I think that girl was possessed probably not, can it happen today perhaps.
there's some weird (*)(*)(*)(*)ing (*)(*)(*)(*) out there, bro. if you see a black-eyed kid floating 4 inches off your porch, asking to come in because "it's feeding time" you'll start looking up exorcists in the yellow pages too.
the cadre of hell has two classes. the fallen and the old ones. which is worse is really a matter of perspective.
If you take everything in the bible literally including gods words and actions, your mindset would be better acclimated to 14th century Europe than the modern world.
Well I am not a protestant so I do not take everything in the Bible literally. But it is not just in the Bible there is thousands of years of Church tradition as well. I have never seen an evil spirit but I am not prepared to disreguard the Church and its teachings just because I have not experianced something.
There is this little gem from from http://www.ministeringdeliverance.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3213&start=7
I would say that certian heterodox churches should do a better job of teaching the Gospals and selecting their ministers.
Family obsessed that she was possessed... Young woman 'possessed by demon' dies after 'exorcism' performed by family at local church 30 Nov 2015 - Her family allegedly performed a ritual after the 22-year-old was said to have played with a Ouija board
Satan's greatest achievement was convincing the World that he doesn't exist. A lot of people are in for a very rude awakening, come Judgement Day.
They "believe" in it because they are against universal healthcare and want every physical and mental disorder to be treated by a religious shaman rather than a certified medical scientific professional. That is why.
This would be a good test to prove the Supernatural take the possessed into modern clinical scientific settings and have independent scientists record it and prove these three things as true: 1. They speak a language fluently the person cannot know. 2. They know of events or things they cannot know of. 3. Move objects without touching them or demonstrate other phenomenon. And do it say 100 times that would once independently verified be evidence I would find hard to refute if done properly.
