No Christ, no Christianity. No MLK, no MLK day. The figures are central to the respective holidays. It doesn't take a lot of logic to figure that out.

Virtually every Founding Father was an overt Christian, and the Bible was originally recommended for teaching in schools. The U.S. government was never intended to be scrubbed of all religious symbols the way people like you try to do today. In fact, your views are directly at odds with those of the people who wrote the Constitution.

Atheists don't know what's right or wrong. They think it's all subjective. And they're not even smart enough to realize how self-defeating this belief is. Because it makes everyone equally right all the time. No matter what they believe.

You believe murder is wrong. Someone else believes murder is right. So who's correct? According to moral relativism, you both are. Because it's just a difference of opinion. So then why do your beliefs become the law? Because they are more popular? By that logic, whatever is most popular is always an acceptable law. Which means the legal definition of marriage is fine the way it is. You don't like that? Why not? Because it's wrong? But it's only wrong to you. Remember? To other people, it's right. And since there are more of them than you, then the law is perfectly okay.

See how your belief system works? Kind of stupid, isn't it?

You need to stop with the weak, dry witted tries to get the perverbial rise out of me. Your age, theistic tendencies, and conformist leanings are not what cleverness sides on the caution of.

Ok, why do you believe rape is wrong ? Because God says so or because it is simply wrong ?

I dont get why the founding fathers called themselves christians. They committed the most terrible acts of slavery and act like they dont know what the lord has planned for them. Then again, maybe they do and thats why they have become megalomaniac capitalists. Kind of like 'lets grab all the money we can before the lord comes back'.

The bible states that these people will be destroyed, the actually wording is much more graphic.

But that's the thing. It's not simply wrong according to moral relativism. That's just your opinion. To the rapist, it's perfectly okay. So then why do you get to lock him up for something he believes is right?

    So you're a commie then?

By establishing a national holiday celebrating one specific deity they are showing a preference of one over another...or more importantly, over none at all.

Christmas has a secular side to it in addition to its religious side.

It would be easier to criticize Thanksgiving or observing the Monday after Easter as federal holidays.

When it comes to MLK day, it's just a matter of compensation. After what black people had to go through with segregation, respecting MLK as a key figure in social progress doesn't seem so bad to me.

Not interested in a battle of statistics. Suffice it to say the vast majority of the world are both 'Belivers' and 'heterosexuals' -- in spite of the left's best efforts to reverse the trend.

Well, if we remove Christmas as a holiday, I doubt you would still have those eager beaver government workers ready to provide you whatever services you need since they more than likely would have called in sick.

Can't we just accept the practicality of closing offices for Christmas, rather than officially keeping offices open and then having workers not show up?

I'm really not sure how that pertains to my question on asking why basing a national holiday on an individual person is immoral. But in the US, the government doesn't require companies to close on Public Holidays. So businesses have the choice to stay open or not. And some, particularly restaurants and movie theaters, do stay open on Christmas.

By today's standards, JFK would be considered a neo-con supply sider.

yes, but us taxpayers are paying for the christian day off for tens of millions of federal and state employees.

How come there is no holiday for Chanukah or Ramadan?

No one said it was immoral, they said it was unconstitutional.

    Do you know the difference?

I do, but the question I was responding to was that it was immoral.

    >>>MOD EDIT: INSULT<<<

That's what I was trying to find out. Why he thought it was immoral.

I've already said I totally support the Democrats adding that to their platform for 2016 to get rid of the Christmas holiday. I say let's get them behind getting rid of Christmas.

    Ahh, the political ads....

If the country becomes majority Jewish or Muslim, Chanukah or Ramadan would become a national holiday.
