And white America went to war against each other to free blacks from slavery, while Muslim countries continue to practice slavery.

America did not go to war to free blacks from slavery. The Union went to war to put down an armed rebellion by the Rebels who had attacked an Union military facility. White people (other than a few like John Brown) had zero interest in dying to free black slaves.

Slavery existed in the North until 1865. The Northerners would have been perfectly happy to deport all blacks from the entire country. The Rebels wanted more blacks and would have imported millions more if they could have. It wasn't because they loved them but they wanted to expand slavery into the West while the Union wanted to keep it slave free for white people. Blacks of any status were forbidden to set foot in Kansas.

Some muslim countries practiced slavery until very recently and even today a few muslims still hold people in slavery. But the worse slaver was King Leopold II of Belgium who held an untold number of people in the Congo as slaves and killed about 12 million people while he was looting the Congo just over a century ago. And he was a Catholic. It's too bad hell doesn't exist because he certainly needs to be in it for eternity.

Why did the south seceed? Because the north wanted to end slavery. Expansion in the west and public opinion to keep slavery out was wide spread. Who were those who opposed slavery? White people. Slavery had run its disasterous course and it was time it ended. Read less Zinn and read more actual historians. BTW, Indians (Native Americans) enslaved each other. Stuff to think about.

Christians and Muslims are actually cousins

In fact, Christians and Muslims are actually cousins because both are the two branches of same ancestor Abraham. One branch was headed by Ishmael, which became Islam. The other branch headed by Isaac became Christians. Muslims recognize Jesus also as the precedent prophet to Mohammad. Mohammad was very much pained at the crucifixion of Jesus and hence resisted the concept of human incarnation, which can never be relished by the co-human beings due to ego and jealousy. This is not difference of policy but it is due to the heart felt pain by Mohammad about Jesus.

Hindus were always co-operative with every religion and you can find the peaceful co-existence of Christianity and Islam in India with out any violence. In fact, Hinduism itself is a mini model of Universality of Religions. There are several sub-religions in Hinduism like Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktayism etc., which co-existed based on unity in diversity. In fact, Shankara co-related all the sub-religions and brought the unity based on single God called Brahman appearing in different forms like Shiva, Vishnu, Shakti etc.

The same process of unity of religions in one region was carried on by Mohammad, who established the concept of single God called as Allah. Of course, Shankara brought such unity by powerful logic and debate, where as Mohammad brought the same unity through powerful sword. The powerful knowledge is represented by sharp sword as said in Gita [Chchittvaa jnaanaasinaa….]. According to the circumstances and the mental level of the then existing people, knowledge or sword was used. In the time of Shankara, the quarrel was between scholars of various religions through arguments. In the time of Mohammad, the quarrel was between the heads of various religions through swords. The final result was one and the same.

That's your problem, you don't believe the Bible, or apparently the idea of sin and evil and it's consequences.

Martin Luther King would have been thrown into the ovens by Hitler.

I don't think the Bible is inerrant or ought to be always read literally. These newfangled fancies of American-style Evangerlical fundamentalism have very few followers among old fashioned German Protestants such as myself.
While I have hope for universal salvation - a hope that I can give you ample scriptural basis for, if you like - I do indeed believe sin has consquences. Just judging by your posts I have an inkling that you may have a lot of repenting to do at judgement day. (I'm afraid I'll have a long list myself, and that latter ought to be my main concern).

As it is he got shot. It seems to be the way with good people that they run the risk of getting murdered. Jesus Christ would be the prime example. Christ got resurrected and Martin Luther King's dream lives on.

I don't think I believe anything the early church didn't, or Jesus Himself. A lot of theological rot was invented by German theologians. I think Dietrich Bonhoeffer would have a lot more in common with me theologically than you.

Why then did Jesus die on the cross? Why did he talk about the straight and narrow, and that few will find eternal life? What about His speaking of eternal punishment? Do you think Hitler will be saved?

But according to universal salvation, I have nothing to worry about, or Hitler either for that matter.

    From Wikipedia:

"In 1995, Human Rights Watch[7] and Amnesty International[8] first reported on slavery in Sudan in the context of the Second Sudanese Civil War. In 1996, two more reports emerged, one by a United Nations representative and another by reporters from the Baltimore Sun.
The CEO of Christian Solidarity International-USA, John Eibner, argues that the Arab-Muslim state of Sudan started reviving modern-day slavery starting in the mid-1980s. He claims that this slavery is a result of a jihad led by the state against the non-Muslim population.[3]
According to CBS news, slaves have been sold for $50 apiece. [4]
Writing for The Wall Street Journal on December 12, 2001, Michael Rubin said:[9]
“ What's Sudanese slavery like? One 11-year-old Christian boy told me about his first days in captivity: "I was told to be a Muslim several times, and I refused, which is why they cut off my finger." Twelve-year-old Alokor Ngor Deng was taken as a slave in 1993. She has not seen her mother since the slave raiders sold the two to different masters. Thirteen-year-old Akon was seized by Sudanese military while in her village five years ago. She was gang-raped by six government soldiers, and witnessed seven executions before being sold to a Sudanese Arab.
Many freed slaves bore signs of beatings, burnings and other tortures. More than three-quarters of formerly enslaved women and girls reported rapes.
While nongovernmental organizations argue over how to end slavery, few deny the existence of the practice. ...[E]stimates of the number of blacks now enslaved in Sudan vary from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands (not counting those sold as forced labour in Libya)...
    ”
The issue was the subject of a Channel 4 dramatised documentary, I Am Slave in August 2010, in which none of these religious conflicts were highlighted.[10]
The Sudanese government has never admitted to the existence of “slavery” within their borders, but in 1999, under international pressure, it established the Committee to Eradicate the Abduction of Women and Children (CEAWC). 4,000 “abducted” southerners were returned to South Sudan through this program before it was shut down in 2010.[11]"

It increasingly seems to me that you never even bothered to read anything Bonhoeffer has written on theology and I don’t remember having told you much about my own theological tenets, so how do you know?

The path you go down is hardly narrow, so if I were you I’d be seriously worried. It’s highly debatable whether “αιωνιον“ can correctly be translated as „eternal“, but very few would dispute that “παντας“ means „all“. “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” (John 12:32) while we’ll have more or less and some of us an awful lot of repenting to do,I trust that this includes me, you and even Hitler. In any case you ought to pray for Hitler’s and Bin Laden’s soul. “Love your enemies”, remember? Jesus even asked for the forgiveness of those who nailed Him to the cross. If you find that too hard to do, that brings us back to the narrow path that I don’t think you’re taking.

Well, there’s the repenting bit. But fear should not be your motivation to get rid of your hateful thoughts. If you truly loved God, the love of neighbour, including the love for your enemies, would follow all by itself. I trust that one day all of us will truly love God, if not in this life, then after death.

People are ticked off at Hitler because he killed a few Jews that they claim numbered 6 million. They are not necessarily upset about all of the Russians his army killed. Anytime Hitler is mentioned it is in conjunction with 6 million Jews and not in conjunction with 30 million dead.

BTW, the US was so prejudiced against its own black citizens that it wouldn't allow them to kill white Nazis who were killing all of those people. At least the racist Hitler integrated his army with muslims to help kill his enemies.

The North didn't want to end slavery since slavery existed in the North until after the end of the Civil War. The North wanted to limit slavery to just those States where it already existed. The North didn't want slavery to expand into the new territories so it passed laws like the Homestead Act to limit the size of acreage a man could own. It wanted the land to be settled by free whites. Blacks of any status could not set foot in Kansas.

General Grant, who defeated General Lee, owned slaves until the end of the war.

As I said before, the Northerners would have gladly deported all black people. The Southerners wanted to import millions more. The war changed everyone's mind.

Just because you mention 6 million Jews does not dismiss the millions of Poles, Russians, Gypsies and others that he had killed. People are 'ticked off' at Hitler for all the people he killed. Ask the peoples of all the nations who suffered under Hitler.

You would be wrong on that. Bonhoeffer was no fan of theological liberals. This is what he said about liberal Union Seminary in New York:

"[The Union students]talk a blue streak without the slightest substantive foundation and with no evidence of any criteria....They are unfamiliar with even the most basic questions. They become intoxicated with liberal and humanistic phrases, laugh at the fundamentalists, and yet basically are not even up to their level.........In New York they preach about virtually everything, only one thing is not addressed, or is addressed so rarely that I have as yet been unable to hear it, namely, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the cross, sin and forgiveness, death and life."

Bonhoeffer, Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, Eric Metaxas

Because you said you don't take the Bible literally or as inerrant.

A lot of people saw the Nazis as liberators. Of course their towns became war zones so I'm sure that their attitudes changed with the destruction and carnage.
