I always find it amusing how in the mind of literalists, mythical events are "science", and actual science is a "myth". "Wrong is right, right is wrong" seems to be their thought process

In the bible it states that the flood was a result of rains in 40 days and 40 nights. Does anyone realize how much rain would have to fall and how hard and fast it would fall to cover the entire earth in that amount of time. The pressure alone would kill off every living thing on this planet.

 

I was there for The Great Flood ! Dolton Illinois 1968 ! It rained for 4 daze and 4 nights ! Bottles of liquor were stashed in the boat. 2 of every kind ! When the waters finally subsided we were so ducking frunk we didn't even Noahit.

"God" is not even as powerful as a lowly chimpanzee, because a chimp could be trained to prove that he exists, but the invisible man in the sky can't even do that. If he did that, then he wouldn't have to see that so many good moral people allegedly burn in his "hell", because then they'd of course believe in him if he simply proved himself.....should be real real easy for the all-knowing, all-powerful, magic invisible man in the sky to keep people from "hell"....if he was a caring entity, that is. So either he doesn't exist or he's too immoral to prove that he exists...either way he's not worth worshipping.

My 8 year old niece, if she TRIED TO, probably couldn't write a book that made any sense whatsoever, that had even half that number of contradictions in it. So I take the Bible less seriously than I take an 8 year-old.

Whilst I agree there are contradictions in the Bible and errors, it should also be remembered that when people take verses from here and there they fail to take the context in which each verse is contained with them. Again, if you study carefully, you can see errors in the so-called contradictions.

I suggest to you that Absalom was 40 years old when he rebelled, not that David had reigned 40 years. Not only that, although David did only reign 40 years, but he did not die in power as most Kings of Israel. He passed on his throne to Solomon.

There are other so-called 'contradictions' which are not if examined with care, and there are others which are contradictions. Which you would expect when a lot was handed down mouth to mouth.

 

So how many clear contradictions would there have to be in the Bible (ok, it's not 477, but a lower number) for you to condemn it as fiction, and not inspired by "god"? 5? 10? 15? My answer is 3. Three, that's it. More than that and it's clearly not inspired by an all-knowing entity? What's your "contradiction number", trevor? Please tell us.

 

Seeing as it is the ebb and flow of atmospheric pressure with moisture and other events in the atomosphere. It is just the normal happenings of weather on the earth.
