You most certainly can, but if you show intent of discriminating over sex, color of skin or age, you stand the chance of being sued, and that is what the gay groups should start doing. I have a service business, and if I say I don't like your smart ass mouth, I can refuse to do business with you, and there is nothing more you could do but try and sue me.

BTW, I have been in the service business for more than 40 years, and successfully I might add, also I have never discriminated against anyone.

I never said that you thought that discrimination itself is okay or that you yourself are a bigot, but you did imply that you have no problem with discrimination in the business atmosphere and that's what this topic is about. I have absolutely no problem with people who want to "talk" about racism or make their feelings known on the matter, or to be racist in their personal lives, but that has no place in a business environment. That's what these laws are about. They aren't to change people's minds or make people stop being prejudiced, they are simply to say "Hey, you can be racist all you want, you just exercise your racism in the business environment".

But this law isn't about a business owner treating everyone badly. The Soup Nazi was pretty much indifferent towards who he would serve nicely except for Kramer. He didn't single out women, or men, or bald people, or gay people. I get what you were trying to illustrate with this example now, but it's also the wrong analogy to make because it's not a parallel of the situation we're talking about here.

Exactly!!! Cakes promoting hate groups are about as common as gay people being denied service at a business. Sure it can be bad for business to discriminate, but should a Jewish person be FORCED to serve a white-power group or anyone else who openly hated Jews?

And please point out all these places gay people or black people can't eat or do business? Saying it happened in the past with racism has no bearing on today, since we're not living in the 40s. Strawman!

It's a choice to join the KKK. I thought that meant we should be free to blatantly discriminate against them, no?

Can anyone explain to these idiots and their ABSURD arguments, the concept of FALSE EQUIVALENCY?[/B]
I mean, DEAR GOD, are we truly this partisan--or SIMPLY THIS STUPID??

First, since you are one of the most partisan ideologues on this forum, there is nothing in the bill that mentions gays. Using my analogy of a black person being forced to bake a cake is against one of the most basic freedoms of our nation, the right serve whom ever you want, and especially the right to associate with whom ever you want. Fascism eliminates those freedoms, even if they are offensive. It absolutely sad you liberals don't see that part of your argument. I never once endorsed discrimination, I endorse the right to be an offensive idiot, yet some of you liberals accuse me of being a racist homophobe bigot

How is it restricting their freedom? What it does do is force people to labor even if they don't want to.

For 250 years, blacks were forced to bake cakes for the KKK and other rapists/owners/oppressors with no say at all.

May all of our so-called "Christian businesses" could toughen up a little and do the BUSINESS they advertised to do.

Why not just goto another baker instead of crying like babies?

Perverts are anyone having sex for any reason other than procreation. Just as God intended.
Some closet gays are scared and use ignorance and fear as cover.

Business has the freedom to do business with whom they choose. It is really too bad you have to venture into la la land and try and give me a history lesson. I am quite aware of the abhorrent behavior black Americans experienced, you obviously missed my point of "equal under the law". You liberals don't believe in those constitutional tenets, you are all about special considerations, and forget the constitution

Because, just like the gay guys who got to their weekend together, the landlords just blew them off and made them go away, certainly with plenty of disgusting and arrogant comments and looks. Yeah, that is such Right Wing Christian "speciality",, and we observe that NOT A SINGLE RIght Wing "CHRISTIAN" seems to find a problem with that accommodation owner's abuse.

Basically, these kinds of laws are permission for EVERY bigot to be an a--hole and find ever more creative ways to screw over, harass, humiliate, and assemble groups of fellow bigots to entertain themselves by abusing other human beings.

Look at the history of how the business square was back when these things were allowed and sanctioned, It was disgusting, yet that is the world the Righties want back. I guess making some of their own reality TV sounds like good "righteous" fun.

Screw all the bigots, They need to move to Iran among their own kind, they love bigotry and hatred there, and have lots of "religious freedom" for this kind of thing.

    This, right here.

People should have the right to dislike, or even hate someone for any reason they want, regardless of how those beliefs affect their lives, for better or worse.

Because the Republicans have the same big government, expansion of empire, and interventionist policies to include the Patriot Act and NDAA as the Democrats. So, it looks like the Democrat dictionary is similar to the Republican dictionary and pretty far off from the English dictionary as well.

I had to stop at the .25 mark. I have sensitive sound syndrom and can't stand to listen to people eat in real life or on t.v. When the chick looked like she was having sex with the fork, you might as well have rubbed my head on a cheese grater.

You must not realize a Republican governor vetoed this law at the urging of many prominent Republicans. You must also not realize a similar law in Kansas was defeated by the state senate with the support of many Republicans.
