I've never met anyone who will admit to being a bigot. I've met plenty of bigots. There are two self-delusions bigots use to avoid facing the mirror. One is to find rather transparent (and often irrelevant) rationalizations. I'm not a bigot, I'm a traditionalist. Or I'm morally righteous, or whatever. But the one I enjoy most says "I'm not a bigot, I don't personally have any problem with those filthy disgusting perverts, but GOD has a problem with them and as His faithful servant, I have no choice but to do His will on earth!"

People who don't share my values are no problem, provided they don't legislate their values. If you don't approve of abortion, don't have one, but don't force your values on me. If you don't approve of same-sex marriage, don't marry anyone of your same sex, but don't outlaw it for others.

And when two tea party stalwarts oppose one another (or are out pimping for contributions), you don't see a whole lot about smaller governments and you NEVER see any of them suggesting the elimination of any services their voters (or contributors) enjoy. You see a LOT of posturing to see who can stand on the taller stack of bibles. Votes and money come from social issues (that is, emotional issues), and not from financial issues (that is, intellectual issues). Anyone who doesn't understand this has never got past losing his first campaign. Imagine an anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-climate change "tea party" candidate running against a "shrink government by eliminating social security" candidate.

 

The TEA Party guy is 100% out of line. Gay Social Issues, as long as the Government is not paying for them, IS NOT a TEA Party issue.

It is too bad when donks like this guy are associated with the TEA Party. It is times like these when I wish there was a national committee to dis-associate this guys words from the TEA Party.

 

The same holds true for the other side of the coin. You want an abortion? Go get one, but pay for it yourself. You want to have a gay marriage? Go ahead, but don't redefine marriage, use Civil Unions. You want to get on your soapbox and tell everyone how to act and how to say things, go ahead, but don't try and ruin people for doing the same back. See, RESPECT works BOTH ways. It's not a one way street like so many think it is.

They keep telling people that. They are supposedly for individuality and self-government, too. Of course, they are not. Either they're lying to themselves or they're lying to everyone else.

They're unwillingness to negotiate and compromise will be their downfall. Since Republicans are no longer willing to allow them to hijack their party, I think that succession is going to be their last attempt at spreading their fascist ideology. Much to the frustration of the T Party, most Americans are fine with same-sex marriage and immigration reform, but there are still a few Southerners who want to succeed. As the TP gets more desperate, I can see a successin movement being their last hurrah as they ally with their extremist militia friends (The TP group in question supported Operation American Spring [a movement to overthrow the current administration]).

We see the government adhering to a Politically Correctness that comes from the women.

The Institution of Marriage is under assault in regard to Gayness and No Fault Divorce.

The Institution of Education has mothers siding with students, not teachers.

The Cultural Institution is full of abortions, Welfare, illegitimacy, 14 years of pre-marriage teenage sex, and half the kids suffering child abuse because they are fatherless.

The Military Institution is now mercenary.

The Economic Institution suffers low wages because the Unskilled Labor Force has doubled as women work and manage families at the same time.

The Political Institution is divided into Liberals VS Consevatives such that nothing gets done.

 

Or alternatively, pay the premiums for the insurance policy that covers it. I agree.

Marriage is not being redefined, only extended. Civil Unions is "separate but equal", and in practice, it has never been equal. My marriage is what my wife and I make of it, day to day, and what someone else does somewhere else is irrelevant to us.

I agree completely. Don't tell others how to act, don't let them tell you how to act. But you should not become a bigot, simply because bigotry is being deployed against you. You are using incorrect equivalency. Everyone has opinions but that does NOT make all opinions equivalent. Some opinions are INFORMED.
