In terms of the overall development of the country, it does not mean which means are used. Tzars Peter the Great, Ivan the Terrible also used cruel methods during their rule. Nevertheless, noone doubt they were strong leaders of Russia.

Monuments from the past has nothing to do with the orientation of the society in present. Monuments- it is history, and it is stupid to destroy anything related to history, even if this is a history of dark ages.

you are absolutely right , and you´d read Jeannette´s post here better, she is a voice of Kremlin here

so she said : Lenin´s Bolsheviks were bunch of Yids, Poles, Latvians , other non orthodox, traitors . they killed man-god (czar) , and destroy the Great country. Stalin was an orthodox warrior who punished Yids, Poles, Latvians other non orthodox, traitors for distraction of the Great country ...

What hysteria? This project about most important people for Russia was done several years ago, my friend, not now. Just to know the opinion of people. Maybe you tell me who made more for Russia as a state than, for example Peter the Great?

"Russian President Vladimir Putin does not rule out that the Volgograd can be returned to the name of Stalingrad, ITAR-TASS reported. With such a request to the head of state has addressed one of the Russian World War II veterans.

"In accordance with our law, this case regions and municipalities," - said the president. "In this case, residents should hold a referendum to decide" - said Putin. "As people say, and do it" - he said in Deauville, where the celebrations dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the landing of the Western Allies in Normandy." Where the "Putin wants" ?

everything whats going in RF , and inside of you head are parts of war hysteria. in order to feel good (after Crimea) you need a kick everyday or your mod fells lower 0 endorphin line (a revolution) , ´cos nothing has changed, you are still have the worst in Europe roads , heroin epidemic , 35% with out running water at home, life quality of an African country , no free press, no control over your government etc, that is why your fascist government feds you with - Stalingrad, Khakhly, Belorussia, Pribaltika , Pendoses, Donbas, NATO, Bandera, Right Sector , China and we , etc. in order to make you feel good

    Gorbachev?
i have a question to you, Peter the Great was a gay how your propaganda handles this fact?

And for great reasons. Russians should be proud of their stand at Stalingrad. It would be like if we had renamed Gettysburg in the US "Turnpike Village" because we wanted to purge history of the the Civil War.

No, the worst roads are in Ukraine. Should I send you photos from Uzhgorod region (Western Ukraine), where I was this winter? Poland has many poor roads. Heroin epidemic is here, in Europe. Go to red light district in Amsterdam, where narcotics are legal, or go directly to Zoologischen Garten in Berlin-they are ready to serve you with narcotics. 35% without water at home? Prove it, otherwise it is propaganda.
As far as Gorbachev-sorry, he is not in the list of most important people in Russia. See the link I sent to you. I am not sure people will put monuments to Gorbachev in Russia. Small figure compared to Peter I.
Peter I was a gay? You make me laugh :) Who has put this stupid idea in your head? :roflol:
Nationality means, I know, that for example many people from Estonia, Lithuania (like you), Latvia does not like Russians. Before blaming Putin in fascism- look at your own country how they treat those people who took part in WW2 on the site of Hitler Army. There are a lot of people in Lithuania and Estonia who are very racist. I felt it on my skin, when I was in Tallin as early as in 1988.

(laughs) So can only write some sort of despondent resident country- parasite from Eastern Europe. Russia could easily wipe out any country in the world. Including the United States. That even without the help of Russian, in space can not fly. What can we say about the country-beggar from Eastern Europe?

because it had the name of the worst war criminal in the years in which it did something historically noteworthy that is a testament to human resolve and dedication. There was no reason that Stalingrad needed to fall--Hitler just wanted it because of the same name on the town.

If the Russians rename Volgagrad Stalingrad (again) it will be about as classy and appropriate as if the Germans renamed Hamburg Hitlerburg. Both men were totalitarian monsters responsible for the destruction of millions of lives and the debasement of virtually every human right there is.

in many ways Stalin was much WORSE than Hitler.

naming a city after him, is disgusting.

we will judge Russia by such an action and react appropriately.

A little note here. Have you ever heard of Kemal Attaturk? Well you should have, because he is the founder of the modern nation of Turkey, and his picture hangs in every building there. Well he also killed and ethnically cleansed about four million of the original inhabitants of Anatolia. This was the first genocide of the modern era, and the one Hitler based his final solution on. The Christian Greeks, Armenians, and Assyrians who survived the death marches and massacres, ended up in Greece, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Russia, France, U.S., etc.

So let's not pick on Stalin, who in my mind was totally evil for the sufferings he caused the Russian people, but like others who were equally evil, Stalin was also a hero to the Russians for helping them fight off the Nazis.
