On this mornings news, it is reported that Carter has written an op-ed piece saying we should recognize Hamas the terrorist organization. Is Carter trying to get his title back from Obama as worst president, or is this just the ravings of a senile old fool?

IMO no one in their right mind would want to recognize a terrorist organization like Hamas!!!! They have shot approx 10,000 rockets into Israel in the last 10 years.

Its time they cart Carter off to the home!!!!!!

Jimmy Carter was NOT the worst President.
Barack Obama is NOT the worst President.
This is NOT an intelligent thread.

    Correct ^

That would imply he was a president in the first place. Prevaricator of the United States would be a more accurate title. Or maybe 'First Fund Raiser in Chief'.

You are entitled to your opinion, but the rest of the country knows that Obama and Carter come in as one and two, as the worst presidents the country has EVER had.

Might actually bring them to the negotiation table, and begin to finish what Arafat tried to start.

Because if you haven't noticed lately in this "boo hoo" world of ours if somebody tries to just go in there and destroy them they get condemned like the devil.

Look at the news, everyone is acting like Israel is the bad guy here...

    He was.. but then...

    ^ stole that title.

The lack of intelligence comes in when people pretend that Carter wasn't known as probably the worst president ever, and that people on both sides of the aisle are saying the same thing about Obama.

Nothing wrong with opinions... but capitalizing "NOT" only emphasizes the fact they are not the popular opinion.

There is a lot of ground to cover to overtake Obama, but if anyone could do it, Carter could.

Carter, during his presidency, was criticized for being on the side of the Palestinians, he pretty much hated Israel also. It is no shock that he supports Hamas now.

It was one of the reasons he lost to Reagan.

Obama said he wants to be like Lincoln but really he is gunning for an identical presidency to that of Carter.

In less than a generation, the majority of Americans memory of a former Democratic President will be Bill Clinton....not Jimmy Carter.

Naturally, the Right will try to bring up Monica Lewinsky....but they won't talk too much about peace, prosperity, and budget surpluses that THEIR guy Dubya squandered on more tax cuts and pointless wars.

And attempts to bring up "Jimmy Carter"....will leave people saying "What? Why not bring up Chester A. Arthur or Grover Cleveland?" :D

Presidents do not spend money, Congress does. Might want to check with your democrats who opened their checkbooks for that war.

I was in college during the Carter years. I never understood how the right managed to label him as the worst POTUS ever. I think it had to do with making Ronnie into a Saint. Carter was actually a very fine POTUS. He was certainly better than Reagan or GW or Ford. Don't forget, he was the first open evangelical to ever hold that office and he introduced us to Willie Nelson. Before his term, Willie was just a song writer and country singer. Carter made him mainstream.

Carter had zero foreign policy and by the time Reagan came in the Soviet Union had bypassed the US in total military numbers as well as more nuclear weapons along with their proliferation through satellite states. South America was being overrun by dictators working their way up to the US and the Middle East was a powder keg with a lit fuse.

The economy, during Carter's presidency, was an absolute disaster area. Inflation rose to 9% during 1978, to 13% in 1979, and then to 18% in early 1980. For those too young to remember, it may be hard to understand how annoying this was. It was impossible for either consumers or businesses to make any kind of a sane investment decision. At the same time, we had a recession and gas shortages. We've lived through a recession with 2% inflation the last three years, and it has been painful enough. Imagine it with 18% inflation and lines to buy gasoline.

Inflation had nothing to do with Carter and was controlled by the Fed.
    South America? You're reaching here.
Arms sales? Again, weird way to judge a POTUS, how much they spent on the military?
    Middle East? Camp David Accords....

You got nothing but Rush Limbaugh baloney. Like I said, I was in college back then and very aware of politics. You got nothing.

Well you might want to convince pretty much every political analyst and political historian because they are pretty much in agreement that Carter was the worse. Hoover comes in at a close second.

I was in the Navy during Carter's term of office and it was almost impossible to get many replacement parts for damaged equipment in anything remotely approaching a timely manner because Jimmy considered the military to be too bloated. One would't have thought that he attained the rank of somewhere around lieutenant commander. Carter was a good man with compassion for people but aside from the Camp David Peace Accords he was a fluking lousy president.

This is classic Jimmy Carter stuff and perfectly indicative as to why he's considered to be one of the worst presidents in U.S. history. A nice guy who had no business ever having become president.

It's mainly right wing hacks who consider Carter the worst because he had a D next to his name.

Keep in mind that these are the same clowns who think Reagan ended the Cold War, so take it with a grain of salt.

Under Carter I remember paying 13.5% interest on a car loan. Yeah he was wonderful ok!!!! Anyone remember the Iranian hostage deal-----------that happened under Carter too. Then Reagan got elected and Iran knew damned well he would make them pay big time, and turned over the hostages a few hours after he was sworn in.

    Jimmy was in the news.

You're confused with the left-wing tactics of bringing up Bush every time Obama fails at something.

Carter and Obama are tied for first and second. The thread was doing fine until a true believer arrived.

But, nothing President Carter does now has any bearing on his pitiful performance when he was the President. I did think for some time he was a decent human being and a very poor president and his behavior since leaving office has caused me to reconsider his status as a decent human being.

President Obama never has eclipsed President Carter's performance and never had any standing as a decent human being.

We still spent billions on the military under Carter. Did we spend as much as before Carter? No. So what? The military post Nam was a place where stoners went to get better weed. The nation was sick of war, sick of paying billions for war and wanted to do other things. Ronnie came back and cheered war, spent like a drunken/stoned sailor on war and made war some kind of patriotic duty or right.

You guys crack me up. You actually believed that an actor was going to intimidate the Iranians? Please. Ronnie did a deal for parts to Iran in return for the hostages. That is history. We were not going to bomb them or invade them just because Ronnie beat his chest and said stupid (*)(*)(*)(*) to stupid people that lapped it up like a John Wayne movie audience. As for inflation, Carter had nothing to do with it.

GHW Bush ended the Cold War. Reagan just provided a lot of assistance.
