The big one in the 747 is pretty cool. The idea being two on each coast would do figure 8's and provide protection against ICBMs. Forget their range, but being two would cover each coast it's pretty cool. At least in an article I read.
In WW2 time, everyone was limited by the same technology. Today, only imagination presents limitations to available technologies for military / police purposes! It is time America develop a "Drone Navy". Nuclear facilities should have anti drone laser or other technology. Ref. The U.S. Military has developed and tested the Free Electron Laser which will installed on all Ford and Nimitz Class Carriers and installed on all Ticonderoga Class Aegis Cruisers. The FEL along with an Over the Horizon Satellite Targeting System is capable of destroying Aircraft, Balistic and Cruise Missiles as well as Ships, Subs and Ground Targets. Either way lets just look at his point. Another country is actively developing laser military tech. Obviously their half a century behind but will collapse the gap a bit fairly quickly. Future warfare .... Laser beams!!!!
Not that simple for them. Standard Lasers are effected by atmosphere and this screws up targeting. Free Electron Lasers work very similar to Particle Beams without the messy Radiation that kept killing Soviet Scientists. An FEL cuts right through atmosphere and it is a Quantum Leap in Laser Tech. Personally I get a chuckle everytime someone pulls the Alarm and starts posting about Chinese Military Capabilities. China is not even CLOSE to being a threat to the United Statesor the U.S. Military or our Pacific Allies. China has ZERO FORCE PROJECTION and any Chinese Attempt to Invade Taiwan or Japan or others would result in the U.S. Navy and USAF completely destroying the entire Chinese Navy and Sub Force and as well China's Troop Carriers would be sunk well before they came anywhere near Taiwan's shores. The supposed Chinese Carrier Killer Missile can not penetrate U.S. Nuclear Carrier Battle Grou Missile Defense...not even close. China KNOWS this. AboveAlpha
Wull, yea. You and I discussed this when the US and China had that joint exercise, where China kept their spy boats nearby. Our biggest hindrance right now is our "red line" CIC, who appears to be hard at work debilitating the US. Once we're rid of that mistake, I hope we can return to having a bit of respect from the world.
The Leadership of other Nations that are not U.S. Allies understand that to take on the U.S. Military is suicide. So...they do the only thing they can do....try to start S#!# that they know we will ignore.....then when we ignore this they talk about it which allows Politician's either GOP or DEM's to use it as a reason to disparage the other party but in REALITY....there is no issue. It is sort of like the MISSILE GAP....that never existed between the U.S. and Soviet Union. The Soviet's had convinced U.S. Lawmakers they were well in advance even though the U.S. Nuclear Missile Force existed in the THOUSANDS and the Soviets only had 3...that;s right....3....THREE....Nuclear Missiles...specifically the massive Liquid Fueled Missile that sent Sputnik into orbit....a giant missile so large it took half a day just to fuel it. There never was a Missile Gap and today...China is NOT A MILITARY THREAT TO THE UNITED STATES!!! Not even close. AboveAlpha
