The country is still trending in the Democrat direction. When you're filling the country with 3rd world Hispanics who believe that this is rightfully their land and that it was stolen from them, the party that attacks the white majority and promises the most redistributed wealth and power to their non-white voters in return is inevitably going to win. When you have a Party that would rather give you more money in the form of a higher minimum wage and tells you that you've "earned" that money, they are inevitably going to win, because that's a hell of a lot easier than understanding basic economics. When you create so much dependency that millions upon millions of people depend on monthly Government checks for their food and shelter, the Party that promises to keep the train rolling is inevitably going to win.

The Democrat Party appeals to the lowest common denominator and peddles easy answers for an increasingly dumbed down population. There's little Republicans can do to fight that. They can only hope to delay the inevitable at this point. Look to Mexico if you want to see what the future of this country looks like. That's all you have to do.

Yes, liberals have won, the entitlement demographic has now become too large to ever reverse. Within 50 years or so we will witness the economic collapse of the US followed by some catastrophic event which we will need to rebuild from.

Could be a depression, a revolt, extreme civil unrest & violence, a World War....too many options to guess at really.

    But its coming.

If some combination of this happened in the near future and it extended for over a year or longer I could see conservatives taking the country back.

Liberals are too weak and helpless to make through this type of scenario. They require government-backed physical force and financial support to survive.

I've heard this demographic projection talk in politics many times before, and it's an extremely silly idea. Yes, if the Democrats and GOP maintain the same shares of each demographic from now to infinity, then the GOP will eventually get to the point where they can never win. But that is of course silly - the Democrats don't have a lock on the black, hispanic, or women's vote, not one that you can by any stretch assume to remain for fifty plus years.

Remember, Democrats barely have an edge with women - they generally pull in about 55% of the women's vote. That's not hard to change. If you look at the Hispanic and Black votes, they mainly split between red and blue on economic lines. Poor blacks and Hispanics are reliable blue votes, but middle class and upper income minorities are not. However you want to shake it, "because the Republicans hate poor people", or "because the Democrats play class politics", w/e, the only way for the Democrats to hold onto the minority vote in perpetuity is for the minorities to stay poor in perpetuity. And I don't see that happening. Irish Americans were once an extremely poor group, but over time they assimilated and became - just like anyone else.

On a sidenote, in the 2012 election black voters identified with the GOP more than in any presidential election since 1960. It's slow, but there is already a gradual shift in the black community towards the GOP - and once Obama is out (with a natural draw to the black vote) the GOP, if they put up guys like Rand Paul, you can expect the black vote to become less blue.

This argument doesn't really fly because Asians, who on average use less so called "hand outs" than whites and are generally well off financially, supported Obama in large numbers, in fact second only to blacks. So there's clearly something else besides being "poor" that seems to drive minorities to the Democrats. In the case of Asians more of them actually used to support the GOP compared to the Dems, but that has changed in recent years.

For what it's worth, I agree that more blacks and minorities in general will support the GOP in the future, but then again, once the GOP finally stops pandering to the social conservative George Wallace voters, they'll lose a significant chunk of their white vote. Regardless, it should be interesting to see how things play out in the future.

Perhaps you and Brew can move to socialist Iceland. I mean granted, you'll still have to live with EVIL socialists, but at least those horrible brown people won't be ruining your lives, eh?
