Nice deflection. Way to gloss over the actual issue here. Muslims killing non-believers is not the subject here, as that is a huge issue with atheistists and agnostics (leftists as you call them I guess).
WTF!!! She is belittling them and insulting them and forcing her belief on them. Most christians believe in evolutuion so how is it a secular theory. Besides it's not thery, it's a fact. Next time pay attention in science. But you seem to support bullying and namecalling that terrorizes children. Exactly what are the controverial and competing ideas? The rest of your post makes zero sense.
It seems to have become a standard defence amongst Christians to argue "look at the Muslims, they are much worse than us", But I wonder, what would a Christian be saying now if a Muslim teacher informed a child, they were silly for not believing in Allah?
This teacher is an idiot. Has no business in the company of children. One has to wonder what two morons procreated this total waste of vital organs.
I agree that it's wrong for a teacher to comment on religion (or lack of) negatively. Not sure he should be fired, if this is the first reported offense, but I do think he should get a few days off without pay, and be forced to apologize publicly to the family. - - - Updated - - - The above teacher should have the same punishment as the teacher in the OP.
You missed the real point, which is, if the teacher in the OP is punished (which I think should be the case), the the atheist teacher denigrating religion should also be punished. In both cases, it's an adult representative of the government bullying the religious views of the student.
This connects into what we talked about with education here before. If this kind of conduct was allowed to happen in the first place chances are they are abiding by the new restrictions under protest. If the community supports the teachers actions no doubt the same behavior will resume openly ASAP.
LOL, I did not miss any points that were clearly expressed. On your point which is clearly expressed, I wholeheartedly agree. No point in protecting a Buddhist kid from the aggression of a christian, and turning away when an atheist does the same. And because there will inevitably be some who need this spelled out. At almost the exact time I was discussing this thread, I was doing this very work for Christians over in another ..http://www.politicalforum.com/showthread.php?t=379172&page=4&p=1064380570#post1064380570 If you still think you see a dodge. Yes I think the exact same disciplinary process should result when an atheist teacher tells a christian child she is stupid, but that wasn't really the subject here.
agreed. any expression (by a teacher) of personal opinion which involves the belittling of CHILDREN with different opinions is an outrageous breach of professional trust.
Must have been the Jesus in the teacher speaking. Idiots like that teacher give the religion a bad name.
As a Christian I would say the teacher seems unqualified for her position. Having attended 14 different public schools, I would contend she is not the only unqualified teacher in the system. I would also contend that any student willing to submit to her teachings without question, was/is probably not destined toward a scientific profession. But who knows, perhaps proving her wrong inspired the next Francis Collins. Absorbing facts is not what school is about anyway, in the end, no harm no foul. I certainly was not derailed by the Atheistic interpretation of Darwin's findings.
The op asks a question in the middle of the night when most people are sleeping and you wonder why no Christian has said anything. Try being a little patient next time. Or are you that eager to "call them out" on their alleged hypocrisy?
It's a little different. You're much likely to get a response if you ask the person in real life as opposed to a web based forum. In real life, people are much more likely to give you an answer, good or bad, regardless of the question asked.
I had a teacher in High School who would routinely go into her wacky Christian ideas. we could have reported her, but we instead encouraged it, cause it meant she didn't check our homework.
I have found the opposite to be true. I've had enormous difficulty getting Christians to answer questions in RL. Even the ones who actively and enthusiastically solicit questions (pastors). The only explanation is that when a pastor says 'ask me any question you like, I'm here to help!', they actually mean 'ask any question which presupposes a god exists, and more particularly, MY god, and which indicates you believe in him and want to love his son jesus with all your heart'. Apparently they can only preach to the converted. Pathetic.
We had a Ned Flanders 'religion' teacher at my public high school in the 1980s. The poor bloke copped it every single day of his working life, with not a glimmer of a possible conversion in sight. That is to say, we weren't as horrible to him as we were to some teachers (he was young and energetic, Flanders style, so that saved him from the worst of it), but he was just SO gormless and innocent. It was quite remarkable, really. Like finding a 30 year old in a time capsule, buried in 1953.
