If you have a home and the absolute most minimum of income, you can survive.

If not - die in the streets.

Sending poor people out to forage for food is a stupid idea.

True enough. Plant something else then, apples are not necessary for a healthy diet.

People who live in cities.. in condos, townhouses and apartments don't have land or gardens and orchards. This thread is stupid from the get go.

This is a felony. An easily traceable, provable felony. I'm sure it is not happening as often as FOX almost news wants you to believe.

I have cows, pigs, chickens, a large garden, and I will be raising fish (tilapia, bluegill, and Australian redclaw crayfish) come spring.

Right now I am working on my small fish hatchery and winter quarters for my fish.

But people in crowded cities can't do that. We don't have near the available land y'all do in OZ. Round these parts people are likely to give you the shirt off their backs if you ask. But if you cross their land or fish their ponds without permission you are asking for trouble.

and how about 1 person living on their own, or a single mom with 2 kids - how will she suddenly transform into a farmer or fisherwoman?? - sounds like righteous Christian tosh to me

let's make single mothers the fisherwomen of men, lol:alcoholic:

dunno about craigslist, but half of the people living at the mission are selling their food stamps for 50c on the dollar. They eat supper (go thru the line twice) at the mission, get food given to them by the churches/govt, so why would they need food stamps? gotta have them cigarettes and that beer man. Sheesh.

You must not go shopping do you?

    McDonald's Happy Meal $2.99 - $3.49 to feed 4 kids $11.96 + tax.

    Potatoes $.39 a pound, 8oz portion $.19
    Carrots $.40 a pound, 8oz portion $.20
Frozen chicken breast 2.99 per pound. 8oz portion $1.49

    $1.49
    $0.20
    $0.19
    ------
    $1.88

Generous portions of Chicken, Carrots and a Baked Potato $1.88, to feed 4 kids this meal......$7.52, sorry, no toy.

Oh, that's right it would require getting out from in front of the TV and actually doing some work.

maybe true for some, but why should all the genuine unemployed be punished for the actions of a few?
