No, he's attacking atheists. If an atheist doesn't celebrate Christmas he thinks it must be because they hate religion.

And YOU, too, have NO proof that atheists are no more or less angry and bitter than any other group including christians.

Your, and his, assumption that christians are never angry or bitter is laughable.

I view Atheists as Fundamental Christians. They have both been bitten by the bitter bug.

    Your "view" proves nothing.

I'm sorry, but that's an impression I have won from personal experience. I owe you no proof for that. Of course Christians can be angry and bitter, too.
Actually the most anger and bitterness can be seen on people who don't understand and ridicule other's belief systems.

Not an atheist, but my celebration of Christmas has nothing to do with religion. Also, along with the time period having pagan roots, Christmas has become so commercialized that even atheists can enjoy it.

Happy holidays to you sir !

I certainly don't. I resent the horrendous traffic problems that it causes. I also hate cold weather, the dangers of ice and snow, etc., so the beginning of winter is cause for cursing, not celebration.

You haven't had "personal experience" with every atheist....so I hope you don't commit the error of judging them all by the few you know. AND do you ask yourself "are they bitter because of religion or is their bitterness and anger separate from religion?"

Because not everyone's life revolves around religion. Have you thought of that?

Hey Fox, I am an atheist. And I think being an atheist is no reason to badmouth religion as a whole, that's all. I don't like that, people who do that bother me and if you think the shoe fits, that is your problem because nobody attacked you personally or called you out as one of them.

This was a nice little thread about how atheists celebrate Christmas and I apologize to doombug for participating in its derailment.

"""And I think being an atheist is no reason to badmouth religion as a whole"""

And I think being a christian is no reason to badmouth atheists as a whole.

The OP can't answer this question, maybe you can.

Why would atheists have to "admit" they celebrate Christmas?

Well I don't feel badmouthed, at least not in this thread.

I don't know, maybe he thought it's uncool in the atheist club to like Christmas and having fun is a no-go. In that case I'd rather correct a prejudice than confirm it.

No, being an atheist means ONE thing, you don't believe in god. That's all, that's it.

It doesn't mean you don't like strawberry ice cream or hate your neighbor or belong to a club or don't drink or love to party or don't like modern art or chew your fingernails.

Yes , some atheists may have something in common just like some believers may have something in common....

I look forward every year (for the past 20-some years)....

for Rightwing Media to trot out the annual "War On Christmas" Pageant and their fearful audience to once again, warn of us how "them durn nasty atheists are on the verge of banning Christmas."

It's like watching Charlie Brown when Lucy promises that THIS year...she'll let him kick the football...and you just love seeing Charlie fly through the air when she pulls it away at the last minute.

Then Fox and Rightwing Radio pack up the "War On Christmas" decorations on Boxing Day, put them up in the attic, and 11 months later, bring them back down.

It's one of the great holiday traditions....and always provides a good laugh at the expense of gullible Rightwingers.

Good, as long as you look forward to it that should make it a special time of the year for you. 20 good years is an achievement.

:) Exactly! And now you'll have to excuse me....as an atheist I have to go sit in a corner in the basement , stare at the wall, and mumble to myself until January..."We" all do , ya know!

    .LOL!

have you ever notice No follower of Jesus or even before him, celebrated a birthday , not even Jesus himself? and there's NO proof of the month in which Jesus was born. MANY christians refuse to do research on the true origin of christmas. also christmas has a pagan origin. My question is why didn't any true follower of Jesus from his time, (after he died), celebrated “christmas” , since it suppose to be about their teacher? Why wasn't it even documented at least once? Jesus said his followers was to follow him ,(Luke 9:23). if Jesus told his Apostles to celebrate his birthday. We would not only have his ok, but would KNOW his month and day. We know when he died, and he told us to remember it. Jesus also said his followers were no part of the world ,(John 17:16).

Jehovah God said to NOT love the world and things of it ,(1John 2:15-17). many christians live just as the non-christian do. They do not separate themselves ,(Pro. 4:14,15 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away). If christmas's a day Jesus told us to remember, And if it WAS a Holy day. It WOULDN'T be so Holy, because lies has been incorporated into it, Which made that day dirty. Even christians.... still teach their kids of a santa and his north pole home. They still put up trees, which isn't a Holy custom ,(Jeremiah 10:2-4, Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not).

Another christian say to me after I asked her if she thinks Jesus approves. She said basically he didn't mind ,because it was about him, sad! She see what she said in her imperfect and fleshly state of mind. Because if she had seen in though her spiritual mind, she would see the truth. Which is first!, Jesus ISN'T arrogant like humans. He wouldn't be saying... well! It is about me! He would see it for what it was, a lie! And he wouldn't be happy about those claiming to follow him. Yet follows the ways of the world, because again, true followers of Jesus didn't practice christmas. And many of us get all upset when an unbeliever doesn't believe. I can understand, because if I was an unbeliever around “christians” who pretty much live as I do. How can I take what they're trying to teach seriously? Sadly Jesus didn't say “I never knew you” ,(Matt. 7:22,23), for no go reason. Even if christians refuse to believe, Jesus ISN'T acknowledging us when we choose to live by lies. peace

as an atheist, my family celebrates "Christmas/Noel" as a festive season promoting "peace on earth and goodwill to mankind".

    Nothing more than that.

I think atheists would enjoy celebrating Festivus. Especially the airing of grievances since they constantly whine. I'll get the pole from the crawlspace. LOL! A Festivus for the rest of us!
