OK, so this ain't some national emergency, nobody got shot, stabbed, blown up, or invaded but hey - speaking as someone who's seen every Super Bowl and most playoff games, it's still serious. Actually, the NFL has no idea what happened or how:

I doubt this will be concluded before the Super Bowl is played and it's very possible that there will never be a definitive answer. The first place I'd look is not to some cheater, but to where were the footballs inflated and what would happen t them when exposed to the cold air at the game in question. Could that have caused it? Dunno, but it's a place to start. Anybody?

If the weather was the cause then the colts balls would have been underinflated as well (they weren't)

Not necessarily. My understanding is that every team provides the balls they use in the game, so the possibility exists. Or not.

This is just a bunch of nonsense..........everybody hates the Patriots because they are too White and win consistently.........not to mention Brady is married to a model and they make about $50 million a year......jealousy is a terrible thing.

If somehow Honey Boo Boo were involved then I think we'd have ourselves the makings of TLC's next reality show.

Nfl is the same as WWF , Entertainment nothing more nothing less . It's funny watching grown ass men cry like a child that just found out Santa was not real . The NFL has always manipulated the games via the refs , does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out . Gambling has infested all sports , the nfl is no different.

Sorry "cold air" did not do this... The NFL has been played in "Cold air" for decades and its been played in more "cold air" by far then a rainy day. The Pats cheated. Of course Bill and Brady are going to deny it did you think they would admit it?

They are checked 2 hours before the game and then given back to the teams. They were fine when they were checked.

If they find proof that the Patriots or someone in the Patriots orginization deflated the balls, the NFL needs to come down harder on them than they did with spygate.

A half a million fine to the Patriots is a drop in the bucket. and losing their draft pick(s) did nothing.

The league should disqualify them from the playoffs next season. No matter what their record is at the end of the year. I bet they quit cheating then.

Or the league should enfore salary cap fines on them instead. Force them to come in 30-40 million dollars under the salary cap than the other teams in the league have to be.

    not necessarily

If New England's balls were 12.5 PSI at game time and Indy's were 13.5 and the balls lost 1 psi respectively, NEs would be in violation and Indy's would not......

The deflated football did not give up 45 points...............

Agreed. And nowhere in my statement did I state that the deflated balls caused the Colts to lose that game. They would have lost regardless.

But cheating is cheating. The integrity of the league and the rules of the game matter more to me then anything else. And it should matter the same if not more to the NFL.

If they are proven to be guilty of this, they need to have more severe penalties then what they received for their past cheating in spygate.

Cheating has not been proven........that's the whole point

The NFL has no integrity..........lost long long ago

And they change the rules ...so they really don't mean anything

Spygate sets a precedent that cannot be ignored. Brady's comments are irrational and idiotic. I doubt he had nothing to do with it. Moreover, if this team is as micromanaged as much as they are, I doubt Bellichek had nothing to do with it.

In addition to the above Comments, if Brady prefers his pigskins at 12.5 lbs, and has a proven penchant for being a whiney, sappy crybaby turd, why didn't he complain about the balls during the game itself?

There's too many variables. But, once a cheater, always a cheater. And that doesn't just apply to Democrats/Progressives/Leftists PT.

If you get into a fight with your wife during your off time and she forgives you, that's NFL business. If you're the Patriots and you cheat, well, they'll get back to you.

So you think the NFL right before in Superbowl is investigating nothing? Dont you think a 9 billion dollar money maker would rather people be discussing the game instead if the Patriots cheating (again)?

    - - - Updated - - -

Why would they do it knowing it was against the rules if they thought it wouldnt give them an advantage?

I never claimed they cheated as well. I said IF!!!!

Are you a fan of the NFL? Do you watch every week?

    Any given Sunday is meaningless.

Rules are there for a reason. If the rules are violated on purpose, then penalties should be handed out. PERIOD.

If it can be proven that none of the Colts' footballs deviated from the proper inflation then that is grounds for disqualifying New England as far as I'm concerned. Surely professional football has enough of Belichick's cheating and little Tommy with his smug, "kiss-my-ass" evasion.... Let the BEST teams go to the Superbowl, and that should NOT include scumbag cheaters -- after all, this ISN'T the (*)(*)(*)(*)ing government!

Cold air will decrease pressure in a tire, or in this case the bladder of a football. This can be quantified with Boyle's Law. Basically the product of the pressure and volume for a gas is a constant for a fixed amount of gas at a fixed temperature.

    V1/V2=P2/P1 (at constant temperature)

    V1 equals the original volume,
    V2 equals the new volume,
    P1 the original pressure,
    P2 the new pressure

Bottom line - make a gas cold, it takes up less volume, so the pressure drops.
