Yep a model of success and his future policy

FLASHBACK: OBAMA TOUTS YEMEN AS SUCCESS STORY
"In an address on September 10, 2014, President Obama touted Yemen as a counterterrorism success story and said it would be the model for the US’ strategy against ISIS.

“This counterterrorism campaign will be waged through a steady, relentless effort to take out ISIL wherever they exist, using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground. This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years. And it is consistent with the approach I outlined earlier this year: to use force against anyone who threatens America’s core interests, but to mobilize partners wherever possible to address broader challenges to international order” he stated."

    And today?

Americans Evacuate Yemen, Rebels Commandeer Their Cars and Weapons
All remaining U.S. embassy staff, including the 100 Marines guarding them, have made it safely out of Yemen on a private Omani jet that took them to Oman's capital of Muscat, the State Department said on Wednesday.

And what did he offer this week, more of the same.

I would imagine a man who has said he was "very good at killing people" would have a flawed foreign policy but then again the answer seems to be "we came, we saw, he died".. or another Bush.. /shrug

Yes would be interesting to compare the Bush speech that day when he spoke of the long hard struggle ahead and Obama's spiking the ball speech.

It absolutely amazing me half of the United States elected this inept liar twice!

It laughs in the face of liberal loon comments trying to denigrate Scott Walker for not having a college degree. Look what we ended up with in a top Harvard grad. :roflol:

(*)(*)(*)(*)ing stupid people should be encouraged not to vote, they're destroying our nation

Obama got about 66 million votes in 2012, Romeny 61 million. Around 93 million didn't vote. That means only about 30% of eligible voters in the US chose Obama, not even close to half. That percentage is of course higher for 2008. But nowhere near half the country voted for the man twice.

Just trying to brighten your day :)

Yes what a great success. The example of how our foreign policy would work going forward. And more of the same in Rice's speech on what our strategy will be going forward.

Tell me what is different in his failed strategy in Yemen and what he is proposing elsewhere to fight ISIS?

Half of the country that voted is what I meant, and it did brighten my day to expose the liar and chief once again for the inept idiot he is

Obama's failure rate is increasing daily, will that also include your excuses why he's not a failure?

Either you are delusional about our ability to control the ME or you don't know the history.. Do you honestly think we can conquer and occupy Libya, Syria, Egypt and Yemen?

Yes this Country does thrive on guarantees. But we all had to learn to forget
all that once The Obama's stepped foot inside the White House.
    Which explains perfectly why during Obama's 2nd { Reswearing-in } the
    day after his big Inaugural and in a private swearing done by Justice Roberts {in the Map room}
where he asked for a Bible. There was not a Bible to be found.
I swear ta God.Now ask yerself how is that possible.
You mean the Obama's swept the White House clean of anything as American as
    a Bible.You bet your bippy.

Actually we very well could if we let our troops do the job they were trained to do. But conquer and occupy is not the motive and I sure as hell wouldn't want that.

No, but let's do a price comparison and ask a simple question as a US Citizen(irregardless of our political ideology): Are we getting our money's worth? Our overbloated military gets more bloated money than every other military in the world. It gets more money than our social services, our infrastructure and our education.

Being the Commander in Chief of this overbloated military, he has the expectation to bring us to victory. As Americans, this should be our ONLY expectation and the criteria we should judge our military, its generals and our soldiers on. Victory or bust. The same way I feel if my sports teams were to build the theoretical best team in the lg: Championship or bust

And for some 15 years now, we've been busting. We should be calling for a military review, an overview of the strategy of our generals and their effectiveness. To see whether or not the ROE are relevant to the conflict or not. The fact is, whether they like to hear it or not(and I know this'll hurt, because there are some former/current veterans on PF) but they've failed on the ground.

That can be the only assessment when the enemy continues to attack key US allies and personnel overseas. It can be the only assessment when the enemy has not yet submitted to US forces or to a mutual peace agreement. And this failure of course, is not excused of the CIC. As its overseer, both Bush/Obama are primarily responsible for enabling and agreeing to failed strategies.

If Obama wants to "claim" success, success must be sustainable, it must be proven and we ourselves cannot give up the gains he's touting. If we give them up, we never succeeded in the first place. Our goal is to put an end to terrorism, and to take practical steps towards achieving that end. Every successful counter push is therefore evidence that we haven't succeeded to the extent necessary(if at all).

    Al Qaeda =/= the Houthis

Nice try at a false comparison though.

    - - - Updated - - -

Reagan abandoned a couple. Was his foreign policy ignorant and inept?

    - - - Updated - - -

The Houthis have nothing to do with ISIS.

    Seriously, Rightwingers, educate yourself.

Obama has sacrifized Yemen to the Iranian theocracy.
To him it is definitely a success, for both hate America.

    ^^^THIS^^^

FFS, conservatives. Get your facts straight. Otherwise it seems as if you leap to criticize Obama simply to criticize Obama, not because you've actually given any thought to what you're criticizing him for. And that couldn't be right, could it?
