He's fed up with the beach right now. He's pushing for tougher ordinances. He got one pushed through, that says no alcohol on the sandy portion of the beaches until April 18 (when Spring Break officially ends)

Search on youtube, PCB walmart cops. It's absolutely chaotic. There are too many kids on the beach. it's dangerous. 1000 cops for the county are simply not enough to deal with even just the beach, much less the beach AND the rest of the crime in the county which doesn't stop simply because it's Spring Break....

Thousands and thousands of kids flock to the beaches during spring break and the couple hundred cops are supposed to be in every place at every moment. If those cops could only be everywhere at all times, people wouldn't commit these types of crimes.

While it's true that the criminals are always the ones really responsible for the crime, it's also true that it's the cop's responsibility to PREVENT it. That cop is trying desperately to put the blame on everyone there so no one will notice that this ultimately means he failed in the job he was hired for. The cops can't be everywhere but it seems in this case they were nowhere at all.

 

Not being an active part of a mob involved in a gang rape is the obligation you have. Being part of that mob, again, is being part of a mob. You are criminally liable for being part of a mob involved in felonious behavior. I can give you hundreds of examples.

There are good samaritan laws all over, not in FL outside of suspecting assault of any sort against a minor or suspected minor.

My point, beyond a social and moral obligation to intervene (even if just by calling police), you have a compulsory obligation not to be an accessory to the crime by being part of a mob supporting a felonious sexual assault. Standing there watching is participating. Walking in a crowd of people who are flipping cop cars and setting businesses on fire, you are an accessory to mob activity.

And much of the public opposes the methods required to effectively prevent such crimes. It is mystifying to me how anyone can find any way to blame the police in any way for this criminal act.

 

The cops whole job is to supervise thousands of people and other places do it quite adequately and on a routine basis. There is an art and a science to crowd control and these cops obviously were in the donut shop when those lessons were taught. I am the first one to say that we should not expect cops to be superhuman, but is it too much to expect them to be there?

I have to agree w/that. This isn't a political thingy.... it's simply the moral decline of society and it's not going to stop. I've seen these college kids interviewed about what's going on in this country and many of them hardly know who the VP is......seriously, most of the college kids are a joke.

It is inexplicable to me how people can stand around and watch, or ignore a girl being held down and gang raped. These people looked like they were more concerned over not spilling their drink. I actually think it would be fitting if Karma came back at them and they were to receive the same treatment at some point in their life.
