From what I have observed over the years, liberals always wanting change without taking the time to think of the of the consequences of those changes will be. Most of the time they get it wrong.

Where as conservatives take the time to think and look at what the consequences could be always paying attention to what harm could come from the changes.

Then you have the old schooled, if it's not broken, why try to fix it ?

Who gets to decide what constitutes wrong? You? Me? Someone else? And by what authority?

A conservative saying that most of the time liberals get it wrong is about as surprising as liberals saying that most of the time conservatives get it wrong. In a very general way both conservatives and liberals see from a different perspective which makes it no mystery to me why the two sides spend so much time locking horns. Its easy to say the other side lacks intelligence (not saying you said that) when from where I stand they lack perspective and perhaps objectivity.

To believe that liberals don't do the same is to lack any objectivity. If you like I can point out shortsighted rush to action by Republicans but I am hoping that you will agree that neither side has a monopoly upon short sightedness. I am a liberal but I am not a Democrat as both the Republicans and Democrats are blinded by their own agenda... which is not very intelligent by my measure of intelligence.

OK…. what about these two paragraphs from the article?

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/blo...y-liberals-are-more-intelligent-conservatives
This is not an entirely unreasonable summary of a large part of the liberal vs the conservative mentality.

I have to say, topics like this always seem to be about masturbation for whomever the "smarter" group is.

Good points……… but……. which group of people is more likely to become well informed on the types of research that can actually decrease racism in all its nasty forms?

    http://www.politicalforum.com/race-...head-past-life-regression-under-hypnosis.html
What is that white guy doin in my head? (Past life regression under hypnosis).

I read both of Helen Wambach Ph. D.'s books back in the '90's and I am convinced that they have the potential to transform race relations.

Well over sixty percent of Dr. Wambach's volunteers were women.... but almost exactly fifty percent of past lives viewed/ perceived.....were of men!

White people see themselves as Black and Japanese and Chinese and Aboriginal in past lives. Roughly ninety percent of past lives viewed would be described as "poor" which is almost certainly not what would happen if people were simply remembering scenes from movies that they viewed as a child or teenager.

True….. that does come out in the replies……….. but I personally am genuinely hopeful that both groups might just take a step or two in the direction of the other group so that America becomes a little less divided.

Most liberals are either poor or rich. The poor are products of the American public school system which has failed them. The rich think they can use their money to play with the lives of the poor to ensure the continuing dependence of the poor.

I think that there is a lot more to the whole topic.

For example….. is it basically true or false….. about President Lincoln saving American taxpayers FOUR BILLION DOLLARS IN INTEREST PAYMENTS?

    http://www.michaeljournal.org/lincolnkennedy.htm

Did Lincoln's advisor in this brilliant system…… refer back to something that happened in 1750?

    http://www.politicalforum.com/opini...etary-policy-central-american-revolution.html
Is it historically accurate that monetary policy was central to American Revolution?

There are two things that I think would help if people were willing to do them.

1.) Stop focusing on what you disagree on, at least exclusively, and find the things you do agree on, at least to the point of awareness.

2.) Stop forming opinion based in part or entirely on opposing people you disagree with, or because your party/ideology/movement/whatever is supposed to have those beliefs. Think for yourself, and think deeper.

The fighting, the disagreements, the derision, I understand all of it. What I don't understand is how at this point in human history and even just using plain old common sense we still let things devolve into these kinds of fighting unproductive sitautions. We know better, as people, as a species, as sentient beings.

Also……… a segment of the liberals tend to be somewhat more well informed about what sure seems to be too close a relationship between big business and the G. O. P.

I'm Canadian…. so I can't vote in your elections but in 2008 I would have voted for McCain - Palin and in 2012 I would have voted for Mitt Romney …. but…….. it seems obvious that a higher power may well have been at work in keeping President Obama in power so that the far too close relationship between the G. O. P. and big business could be broken a little bit more.

If….. the predictions about a massive devaluation of the USA dollar before the year 2020 comes to pass……… the G. O. P. will not be able to blame that entirely on the Democrats.

Both parties are guilty of making this mistake……. but……. the Democrats seem to make at least some effort to decrease corporate power over the economy????!

    Or do they??????!

    http://www.politicalforum.com/polit...-could-utah-state-dollar-save-usa-dollar.html
Could a Utah State Dollar save the USA Dollar?
Have you seen any of the following films:

    1. The Future of Food
    2. Food Inc
    3. The World According to Monsanto.

If so..... then you know that the USA dollar to some degree is linked to and backed up by a plan to control the world's production of food in such a way that could eventually produce global famine.

Back in 1994 I found out that President Lincoln had saved American taxpayers four billion dollars in interest payments and since that time I have been wondering what alternative was available to improve monetary policy that would not scare the investors on Wall Street.

A Utah State Dollar could perhaps be the answer!????!!!

All you have to do is look at California where liberals have controlled the state legislature every year since 1972.

Every legislation introduced to build new reservoirs and dams in California was defeated by the liberals ignoring that droughts in California are a common event even before the Anglo Europeans arrived. But they had to save a fish who wasn't even an indigenous fish but an illegal alien fish by flushing tens of millions of acre feet of fresh water out to the sea every years not thinking of the consequences to the farmers or when the next major drought would occur. But they have no problem with building a $ 800 billion dollar train that goes no where.

A state with over 38 million people without enough water and a Governor and liberals who still have the welcome mat out at the Mexican border saying keep them coming, we'll house, feed and educate your children and the consequences being, 5 minute showers or a fine in the hundreds of dollars.

Remember the Spotted Owl ? Liberals got it wrong saying that the spotted Owl only lived in old grown forest. But it didn't help the tens of thousands in the lumber industry in Northern California who found themselves with the government monkey on their backs after they lost their jobs. To think it was I who first discovered spotted owls living in Adventure Land at Disneyland. The damn Spotted Owl even lives on skid row in downtown L.A.

The mountain lion. Liberals wanted to protect the mountain lion in California without thinking what the consequence would be. They outlawed mountain lion hunting and the whole ecosystem got knocked out of whack. Where there use to be big horn sheep, there are no more big horn sheep, the mountain lions ate them all. Now the lions are going after humans.

I think intelligence is being confused with knowledge, two separate things.

Knowledge is a store of information proven useful for a capacity to act. Unlike knowledge, intelligence is not information: it is a process, or an innate capacity to use information in order to respond to ever-changing requirements. To think things out.

Knowledge of what a ferrous metal is and what a nonferrous metal is. They use to teach this in the 7th grade. Nonferrous metals like copper, lead, brass, etc.

A ferrous metal contains iron and when two ferrous metals strike against each other it results in a spark.

What did liberals do in California aka wildfire country ? They outlawed bullets that have a lead core and want bullets with a ferrous steel core. Consequences ? A spark when the bullet hits a rock and a wildfire. Most rocks, mountains, dirt, etc. contain iron.

In order to discuss this accurately, it is necessary to clear something up. Republicans are not conservatives any more than they believe in a true republic. The true conservative republicans today are libertarians, they are the true right wing with so called republicans being closer to democrats than libertarians on the political curve.
Having said that liberals are basically completely clueless and mostly members of the flat earth society. Republicans are not much better with the exception of having some vague understanding that socialism is contrary to human nature. Both parties worship government and believe in using the power of government to force their agendas down the throats of their fellow countrymen and the rest of the world. Both parties are as ignorant and corrupt as any totalitarian government anywhere in the world.

OK, so I thought I would actually address the article. First, "liberal" is very narrowly defined.
First, this definition is limited to the United States, and to wealth redistribution. This is not liberalism in any comprehensive sense, just a carved out (cherry picked) portion of it. That aside, one of the things that the article says "prove" the intelligence of liberals, is that they want to give to everyone (through taxation), while conservatives want to specifically give to causes and people of their own choosing. I submit that the latter is more intelligent than just blindly giving your money to the government to disperse (or steal) as THEY see fit.

A big assertion of the article is that liberalism is more intelligent because it is "evolutionarily novel". Yet it fails to explain why that makes it more intelligent, it just asserts that it does. "Novel" is not, and has never been , synonymous with "better". The article fails to make a prima facie case.

In order of intelligence at least as far as testing has shown it goes libertarian->fiscal conservative (they are basically the same thing with some differences in stuff like foreign policy and military spending etc) -> liberals->social conservatives.

So you are half right in that liberals are smarter than social conservatives. However, liberals are less intelligent than fiscal conservatives and libertarians.

The article you linked to is a complete joke and not scientific by any reasonable stretch. Democrats for instance get the majority of post graduate votes but they also get the vast majority of less than high school and high school educated people. There are for more people in the latter category than in the first one so all together the Democratic party has far more uneducated people voting for it. An additional point is that post graduate doesn't mean smarter it simply means they are getting the required education in order to get the job they want. If you want to be a professor you have to have at least a Masters or PhD but you can survive just fine in the business world with just a bachelors in many cases depending on the field. Many people get their BAs and then work for years before attempting to get their post graduates which are incredibly expensives. Getting a post graduate degree will set you back tens of thousands of dollars. Many people don't want that additional debt.

Second when you go by income which is a very reliable indicator of intelligence since more than likely smart people will end up making more than dumb people the GOP wins the majority of people starting at the $50k and over mark. Those two facts alone sink this nonsense about Democrats being smarter.

In Australia the Liberal National Party coalition (the conservatives) targeted the lower socio-economic electorates by putting fear into them and won the last federal election. Electorates which for decades have been the bastion for the Labor Party due to their working class base suddenly swung to the conservatives. Interestingly, the LNP targeted those on welfare, youth unemployed and working class families in their first Budget.

    Deserves it's own thread.

But back during the era, the green back was backed up by gold, we were on the gold standard. California during the American Civil War played a significant part on backing up the American dollar.

I remember my grandfather mentioning when FDR called all gold in to be replaced with green backs. If you got caught with a gold coin, FDR's Attorney General saw that you were sent to prison.

Nixon took us off the gold standard.

How many trillions of dollars did the Feds print up to prop up Obama's economy and Wall Street with nothing to back it up with ?

I wonder if there's even any gold in Fort Knox today ?

In a way…. the USA dollar is backed up by the productivity of Americans.

Good transportation systems………. reasonably well educated workers……..great technology to work with……. a government system that protects consumers…….. America's natural resources…… all of these factors make America productive…… and make the value of the dollar reasonably stable.

I did start a couple of other threads with this as a central theme. I would love for somebody to post into it to get people looking at this again.

The Democratic Party once represented working men and women in America. Those days are long gone. Today the Democratic Party represents the rich and the poor, but not working people. To Democrats the working people are nothing more than livestock.

There are two major components of the Republican Party. The first is the Status Quo/Country Club/Chamber of Commerce/Big Business coalition that controls the Republican Party, and shares most of the objectives of the Democratic Party, except on abortion. The other component is the white working class and middle class who long for the traditional America that has been swept away. This latter group has no representation or control. They are simply used by the Status Quo Republican coalition.

In my opinion, the Democratic Party and the Status Quo Republicans together form what I think of as the Establishment Party because they control everything, and do not have the interests of the working class and middle class folks at heart. I tend to call the Democrats and Status Quo Republicans the American Left. The American Left is the direct enemy of the workers and small business people who are used to finance the fantasies of the Establishment.

The article you linked is so full of BS that I am surprised PT let it fly. We liberals are not smarter. We are better looking, just not smarter. The divides between liberals and conservatives in the US are so marginally thin that I would expect whether or not someone is an introvert or an extravert would give you the same political divide.

You are good at pointing out the failings of liberals, but an objective person could just as easily point the failings of the conservatives. Are you objective? If so point out one major shortsighted conservative action without somehow making liberals part of the problem. If you cannot point out at least one major shortsighted conservative action without somehow making liberals part of the problem then I say that you are blinded by bias. Its easy to be blinded by bias... but being objective takes work. What use is intelligence if it is limited by bias?

    No, it is not accurate.

Liberal only want other people to pay higher taxes, not themselves.

For example, a liberal rich person going on about income inequality, that a doctor is making more than a ditch digger, and saying that that person should give up all his money and starve on the streets to the ditch digger, while not giving up any money of their own to the ditch digger.

No, it's just a trash and bash article with no substance or credibility.

Call me when I see these people whining about income inequality and other things giving up their own money to go live on the streets for the ditch digger to live on of their own volition.then we can talke.

Until then these articles are just so much tossed salad and scrambled eggs.

Yeah, well our working class poor should do the same in our next election if they were smart because it's about to get a whole lot worse.
