I think Ted Cruz does have a problem when it comes to decorum. I didn't like his smart-mouth comment about John Boehner in Iowa, or his comment about McConnell. However, decorum is important, but it is not everything. We've all seen people who were letter-perfect in terms of decorum but whom we would not want as dog-catcher. More important is ideology, intelligence, experience, and character. Cruz still leads the field of 20 runners in those categories. He has clearly positioned himself to pick up the Trump supporters when Trump inevitably implodes, and that is smart politics. That's a plus, not a minus, in my book. We're in the early stages of a marathon race here, and Cruz is tucked in at the back of the pack. If you watch marathons, the early leaders are invariably not the winners. Very often it is the runner who is tucked in the back of the pack.
Neither, the Repubs had the House for much if it and the Dems had the Senate, glad to update you. Who has been in control since the beginning of they year, did they pass a real budget for more 2.5 months where logical cuts were made? Don't worry, we both know the answer to that one.
But there are far more of them than TP'ers, hence it is their Party, don't like it then Leave and start your own Party, what ya afraid of, why can't any of you TP'ers even answer that simple question?
No, no, no, not at all. The Republicans are owned and controlled by right wingers (those who are leader centric in their outlook). As right wingers are, by their nature, a small group they had to recruit others to act as foot soldiers for their cause. They chose conservatives as conservatives tend to be easily duped. There is nothing honorable in being a conservative.
Clearly Obama represents a majority of Americans as they elected him twice to the presidency. Ted Cruz can only get elected in backwards Texas. The people have spoken. That's the way democracy works.
It's not difficult to look presidential when surrounded by squabbling leaderless GOP rabble lawmakers. If it limps and quacks it's a GOP lame duck lawmaker.
The only bad thing about Obamacare is the individual mandate, which was a GOP creation as an alternative to the public option. The mandate is the part most americans do not like they like all the regulations places on insurance companies.
Laws passed by Congress effect all Americans, not just each Congresspersons' state. They are supposed to take the needs of all Americans and the country in general into acount.
The ONLY effective way to reduce the deficit is to increase the Prime Rate by 2 percentage points at least. That would make the cost of borrowing higher and reduce the deficit. But at the same time, you would have to be willing to go through an adjustment period for that to happen similar to what Ronald Reagan did when he limited the M1 and M2 Money Supply to reduce the inflation rate. But your problem is that you do not want the adjustment period to affect you, cost you more in equity financing as well as borrowing financing, but just the government. And that is not how true capitalism works. BTW, no such thing as "crony capitalism." Government works best when businesses and government have the same ideas and the same pathway to get a job done. That is how we put a man on the moon, created some of the best warships and warplanes in this country, built railroads, roads, bridges, etc, and the list goes on. You want to call the Military Industrial Complex "crony capitalism?"
The problem is most of the Trump supporters are not going to go to Cruz, or Bush, or Carson, or anyone else. They will simply "disappear" and not really vote in the GOP primary when Trump implodes.
No money was really spent for clash for clunkers program with car companies having a windfall in exchanging one older car for another old car. Their problem was that the piece of paper to verify for a tax credit on their business tax return was not coming in fast enough due to the fact that the same server had the web site for both the consumer and the dealer signups. Go figure. As for welfare, that is explained by the aging population we have. We are living longer and as a result, have a higher incidence for an elderly person to be on welfare in the last years of their lives after all of their private savings has been used up. The other problem we have is that there is no incentive for employers to hire someone who is on welfare and there are no job programs that link the program to a specific employer, trade, or occupation. And since that cost money, no one on the right is willing to invest because they don't care.
No. Each representative represents the people who elected them. As a group, congress represents the people. As a single representative, they represent their district. Isn't that why congressmen ignore calls from outside their voting district? Ted Cruze is my senator and he represents my views pretty well.
I think his future lies in televangelism. It isn't likely to be in politics. The GOP is going to pull out all the stops to primary him. As for him being a Presidential candidate, he might as well give it up, because the GOP will not take him as a front runner, and even in the highly unlikely event that the far right does push him into the nomination, the big money will stay home.
With him being in Texas, I am not so sure. He does have strong support here and will win reelection as a senator if he decides to run again. He may even take a shot at governor or Lt. Governor here. Although he never had a shot at winning the GOP nomination for President, he can still influence the nomination whether its Jeb, Trump, Kasich, or whomever. Personally, he should run as a Constitutional Party candidate and go from there, but he won't because of the "R" behind his name currently.
Ted Cruz should go find some small podunk town somewhere to go be mayor of. That way he can play government to his heart's content, but his ineptitude will only affect a handful of people, not an entire nation. It's bad enough the man is in charge of a science committee, giving him even more power would be like asking the driver of the car about to run you down if he could switch to a semi truck and drive a little faster at you.
Everything they wanted? I want single payer health care and free university like Europe, I want a smack down of Wall Street, the left isn't getting anything meaningful! I'd BURN DOWN Planned Parenthood myself to get something that matters.
