All the way to the Atlantic. Seriously. As well, another Mongol Khan died right before the great battle of Ain Jalut in 1260 A.D. which most likely caused the Mongols to lose the battle that would have wiped Islam from the map.

I agree with that. Strange how little things like a death or something can effect history worldwide.

    More of this nonsense

The Babylonians were the one ones who invented soap in 2800 B.C

    Coffee was discovered in Ethiopia
as for the stars it illustrates how most of these claims of Muslim inventions really happened

Many individual stars, especially the brightest ones, also have proper traditional star names given to them by ancient cultures. Though all the constellations have Latin names, most of the proper names for individual stars within the constellations are Arabic in origin, because during the European Dark Ages, when Europe lacked interest in science and astronomy, Claudius Ptolemy’s manuscript the Almagest that contained the original Greek and Latin names for stars was temporarily adopted by the Arabs, who translated many of the original Greek and Latin star names into Arabic.

    Plagiarism

BS. Alkali is an Arabic word, and soap today is produced in the same Arabs manufactured it:

    http://www.whathowandwhy.com/articl...-lye-lye-soap-how-to-make-lye-soap/Page1.html

As for coffee, it is a mere legend that it was first brewed in Ethiopia:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee

As to the stars, adding upon knowledge is not plagiarism. If it were, the West is the biggest plagiarist of all.

You were doing well with the very accurate ""well, since women and the other races were EXCLUDED from education, getting patents, etc""

....but then you let your privilege and accident of birth get in your way with ""I'm a white guy, and we ARE superior,"""

2600 BC is long before Mohamed was born
I say its mere legend Muslims did
They didnt add any they just changed the names

What they did in Spain was get all the non Muslim scholars together and have them write down everything they knew. Then they claimed it as their own by converting it into Arabic. They made little if any new discoveries on their own. Algebra for instance started in India. Their big contribution was putting it all back down on paper.

Sorry, but the only people who hold this view are non-Muslims with an agenda.

It's a bit like the so called British discovery/invention of antibiotics.

What actually happened was a French man whilst traveling around the middle east spotted some Arab men rubbing mouldy bread over their horses wounds and he noticed that the horses wounds did not become infected. He took this observation back to France and somehow Fleming got hold of it and plagarised this use as his invention.

Correct me then. Foreigners that come to the US with aptitude in these fields do not usually becpme college professors. Asians and Indians who excel in science here become doctors. Your comment was made perhaps to insult natural born Americans but was a perfect example of your misunderstanding. Asians and Idians as a whole far outperform American natives in science and math. They don't settle for teaching for five figures when they can easily make six doing what they do far better than whites, blacks, and Hispanics could hope to on average.
Races are different, maybe America embodies the example most evidently. Any race, gender, or background has the chance to succeed here...but how it is done on average is fairly predictable.

Early Islam contributed some useful things to mathematics but after the Mongol invasions and the rise of the Mamluk and Janissary (slave state) cultures, they entered into a by now centuries-long pattern of squandering everything they seem to get their hands on.

Also, someone got the Nobel prize recently for a malaria treatment derived from Chinese traditional medicine. The problem with focusing on traditional medicine is that for every thing that works there's ninety-nine things that don't work.

I don't care for Goomba at all...but the Middle East centuries ago was a bastion of math and science when Christians were supressing progress and burning literature. Fundamentalism of any sort is detrimental and it will always fail because it seeks to suppress truth and oppress people. Truth will always prevail.
Goomba, my agenda is to keep fundamentalism and oppression far from my soil.

    Couple of reasons for that:

    1. Culture. Many of the cultures you listed have a culture of strong work ethic, and strict hierarchy in the family.
    2. Lack of world top 100 universities in those areas. If you want to study with the best, you go to the US or UK, the same is true even in Australia with ANU and UoM in the top 20.
    3. Massive population in those areas. China, India, and a handful of the Middle Eastern nations = like half of the world's population.
    4. All of the above mean that there are hoards of motivated, disciplined, and intelligent college aged individuals, who have no world top university to match their talent.
    5. Then there are the run of the mill students from those countries who are just like everyone else, and want to see economic opportunity in the west. The student visa is a very good place to start in most Western countries.
