true but totally pointless as the supreme court has invoked the phrase so it is now the law of the land.

It's interesting to see you are such a progressive on this issue, but unfortunately too many people support Christian monuments yet deny such support for others. Oklahoma City recently denied a Satanic Temple from erecting a statue of Lucifer in front of the courthouse.

Yes, I would say so. The White House is not his private home. All Christian or religious icons in the White House need to be removed.

In every town, city, county, state there is an abundance of churches and private residences that will display the religious nativity scene. There is no shortage.

So why do Christians demand a government endorsement?

    Are they on public property?

    - - - Updated - - -

It is an endorsement and giving respect to that religious establishment.

Christmas trees are not uniquely Christian nor religious.

No it is not and tombstones are there for the person buried there.

And we should not, a relic of the past and an insult to the citizens who do not believe in the Christian god.

actually we don't except for a few tidbits in very historical contexts.

I think the opposite. Nativity scenes are depressing reminders of the ill treatment of immigrants and the poor. Either way, while I have no problem with religion touching public property, it is not a surprising end. I find it a sad statement to the adherence to law that a city can decorate parade routes and such with Christmas related decorations but when when it comes to the nativity scene, that is suddenly taboo.

Jesus and his family in the story were neither immigrants nor poor so why do you view it as so?

And they decorate in an enclusive theme without religious connotations, that is left to the religious establishments in their private property.

Breaking off part of a headstone is desecrating the grave site. You wont admit it but i could care less.

That they were not in their own house for one.

wink wink nod nod. Don't expect to be taking seriously if your position is that all these red ribbons and garlands and candy canes and bells and "holiday" trees strung with lights are not about Christmas, but Islam too.

They are state employees. If they endorse Christianity (or any other religion), it is unconstitutional.

The only way to make sure that people can practice their religion without hindrance from the government is to vigorously enforce the separation of church and state. If the camel once gets its nose in the tent, its body will soon follow.

Jefferson removed everything that talked about miracles.

True, the WH does not belong to the residing POTUS, it belongs to the people, so therefore, all icons of different religions should be allowed on the WH Xmas tree.

There is a big difference between ringing a bell once a week and a call to prayer blared over loud speakers into the public streets FIVE TIMES A DAY! You want to be fair, then they can blare their call to prayer blared over loud speakers into the public streets once a week like the church bell.

Yeah, good point! Why the hell Obama wanted to involve himself and the WH in this is something to question. I don't think he had any right in doing this. The WH is not his private home........
