Have you ever actually watched the movie? Because nobody makes a big deal over the fact that Rey is a woman. Nobody even mentions it. Nobody cares, it's just a physical attribute she possesses.

Her character was not forced or above her pay grade. Rey was.

she was hot, smart, savvy, and strong in the Force.

thats why she was such a good pilot and could wield a Light Saber.

get over it folks, its a fantasy movie.

    - - - Updated - - -

Fin could also use a Light Saber and is black.

No problems with Finn. But I assure you not a single black man was considered for the role of Kylo.

Of course not, Ren is Leia and Hans kid, a black Ren wouldn't make an ounce of sense. Unless....

Kind of like a farm kid growing up to revive the Jedi, or the child of a slave being a master pilot almost from birth and the most powerful Jedi around based (literally) on the power of his blood?

I have a feeling you haven't seen the movie. Nothing about her powers is ever attributed to her gender. In fact, it is not-so-subtly hinted that she has her powers thanks to some connection with Luke.

Is it more nonsensical than the idea that there are people who can move objects with their minds and sense other people's inner thoughts? Also, when did Rey face Snoke? I only saw her face Kylo Ren.

Especially since he doesn't seem to have any experience with melee weapons, but Rey clearly does. Yet no one is complaining about the fact that Finn was able to hold his own against Kylo about as well as Rey was, right up until her "use the Force" moment.

    - - - Updated - - -

Or as nonsensical as the idea that the original trilogy had only one significant female character.

Rey could have been a white male for all I care, her character was forced. What's worse is in this case she was forced to push a feminist agenda.

Hollywood is biased towards money and will make any movie by any person as long as they think it will be profitable, regardless of whether or not it contains "progressive" undertones. The fact that more creative, artistic people happen to be progressive is just happenstance.

Finn has NO experience using a Light Saber, and yet he did pretty well.

    ..................but that's ok.

Again, both Rey and Kylo show abilities that go beyond what we saw in the previous movies. And Vader was described as being naturally attuned to the Force . . . just like Rey. You still haven't explains how the movie attributes Rey's abilities to her gender in any way.

Yes, I'm aware of that. But Rey never faced Snoke in the first movie, she faced his apprentice, Kylo Ren. And if you cannot accept the idea that Rey could overpower Kylo Ren, then how can you accept the underlying premise of the movie, which is that there is a light and dark side, and that the force allows people to engage in super-human feats of strength and will?

Yep, and no part of the movie gives even the most remote hint that Kylo has any formal training in melee combat. We know he trained under Snoke, but there isn't any suggestion that this training involved light sabers at all. Rey, on the other hand, is established as an accomplished melee fighter early in the film.

Probably because that would be a stupid idea. But if they did remake Charlie's Angels with men, what difference would it make? The movie would succeed or fail on its own merits, just like the latest Star Wars.

The entire premise of Star Wars is that certain beings are born with inherent abilities that they obtained largely by virtue of their birth. None of them actually "earned" their abilities in the way you are stating. They simply harness and refine those innate abilities over time. Some of them are born with a stronger sense of the force than others, so there is no reason to think that Rey couldn't have been born with a stronger ability to use the force than Kylo Ren. More importantly, and more in line with the narrative's overarching theme, Rey is harnessing the light side of the force, which has always been assumed to be more powerful than the dark side of the force, which Kylo Ren is harnessing. Why, then, is it so hard to believe that Rey was able to overcome Kylo Ren when she is using the more powerful side of the force?

He had very little training in this movie, hence why at the end of it Snoke wanted Kylo to be brought to him to complete his training.

True, generally speaking, if you have a light saber, and the other shlob doesn't, your going to win in melee.

Yep, and the OP is also ignoring the fact that Kylo is severely injured before the fight even begins. I guess the evil SJW feminists are falling asleep on the job.
