Americans liked Obama's speech

The approval ratings for Obama's speech are very interesting in that they are so positive.

53% had a "very positive" reaction to Obama's speech, only 25% had a negative reaction

What's more telling is how his message was received. 68% said that the policies he outlined would move the country in the right direction. 68% is a very high number and I think it tells us that Americans generally believe that he is representing their views for a better country.

Respondents also said his Presidency has fallen short of expectations. So who is stopping him from translating his words into actions? Congress, that's who, and Republicans specifically.

Which is why they're going to once again fail to get the White House.

I didn't watch the speech. I hate being lied to.

 

Considering that about 57% of Democrats were "very likely" to watch Obama's SOTU, versus 33% of Republicans, I would say that a 53% "very positive" versus a 25% "negative" reaction is about right assuming that the reaction would split along party lines.

You are reading WAY too much into a party line reaction that falls almost perfectly into line with the viewership split. Just because more Democrats watch the SOTU when a Democrat is in office, that doesn't represent any type of shift toward Democrat policies. It only shows that either political party is more likely to have more from their party viewing the SOTU when their guy is the one delivering the speech.

 

Yeah, Democrats celebrating other Democrats isn't anything new. That their policies don't work also is something lost to them.

 

I watched it and have to say Obama returned to his 2008 and 2012 campaign style speeches where he knew what people wanted to hear. The problem with all those speeches was, his actions didn't follow the speeches.

I watched. All I saw was Obama praising himself for is failures. Sign of a true narcissist.

It represents those who watched meaning more Democrats than Republicans.There were many who tuned out. It had the lowest ratings since at least 2000.

Prayer ? Was this a prayer breakfast or SOTU ?

Have any other POTUS 'S opened the SOTU with a prayer ? Is there precedence for that ?

 

I stayed awake for two of his. The first one and this one - the last. To be fair I also fell asleep during most of POTUS W's SOTU speeches.

Did Cheney present them for George W ?

 

I watched the speech, you are correct there were a lot of lies.A whole bunch of them.

But wasn't that how Obama got elected in the first place ?

" Where"? In Washington! "How"? With proper grammar and word usage! "Why" Because he knew he could, where others were incapable.

 

All you have to do is take your blinders off and look around you.

Look at the condition of our military services under Obama.

Look at the recovery of the economy, I know what recovery.

Look at all of those new low paying jobs that were created and who actually got those jobs, not native born Americans.

Look at all of the terrorist attacks that have happened on American soil while Obama has been in the White House.

Look at Obama's failed foreign policies, that's easy to do by just looking at the Middle East.

There's more poverty in America today than seven years ago.

Federal deficit spending, more under Obama than all prior President combined. $20 Trillion Dollars by the time Obama leaves the White House.

Remember when Obama said that our borders were secured ? That was a lie.

The state of the Union is in worse shape today than it was in 2009.

 

Like a Roach on a porch, everyone of those claims can be squashed with ease, proving you are the one not telling the truth.

Mainly Obama sycophants watched the speech, no surprise they liked it. But even those people say obama is a failed President. Better read the full CNN article before getting all "rah rah" over obama.
