Yea, like Akai Gurley walking down some stairs and an elderly 86 year old getting shot and killed because an informant claimed she was dealing drugs and then claiming he's never been to her house. Or women getting raped in the back seat of the cop car and children getting molested by these cops you worship. Oh, if only they had just complied!

Usually the correct thing to do is to inform the officer that you do have a gun on your person, then let the officer know where it is located. I don't know about Minnesota but here in Tennessee, before the new law that allows us to carry a weapon in the car fully loaded with no permit needed , to transport a weapon in the car you had to keep the mag and gun separated to where you could not just load it and go to town on someone. Then you let the cop know where everything was and 9 times out of 10 he or she would just inspect it and make sure you are allowed to even obtain a firearm.

Well, Super MoFo... I cant think of any country that would be careless and stupid enough to allow a 5% demographic to commit half the murders and shootings. Several of my co workers and friends are Black. We have weeded them out, and got good faithful loyal workers at my Job.

Akai Gurley was shot and killed while walking down stairs in his own apartment complex. Was he a danger too?

Akai Gurley was an accident, and the officer was charged and sentenced for his death.

Mmkay, if you are correct then I wonder why Im not dead. I suggest when you get pulled over you start facebooking, taunting the officer and making quick jerky movements. Ill keep doing it my way, by not mouthing off, understanding that police have an incredibly dangerous job and keeping my hands where he can see them at all times.

The cops are the modern day lynch mob.

If anyone did a honest and complete investigation they would discover that most of the shootings have been done by recent vets suffering from PTSD and that they are drug users. Another common thread is that the cops were trained by the same group that encourages a shoot-to-kill policy rather than a non-lethal policy. That's because it's very rare that a cop is ever convicted of killing anyone when all he has to say is "I feared for my life" and the cop lovers will jump to his defense. Besides, they get a paid vacation when they blast someone and they're back on the job in a couple of days. It's the old Slave Patrol mentality in action in the 21st Century. Throw in a hint of terrorism and the continuation of black people as criminals and the killings will continue. At the current rate it will reach 100 a day by 2024.

One way to reduce the rate of shootings is to give all cops involved in such shootings an immediate drug panel test, suspend them without pay, fire the current trainers, don't hire war vets as cops, establish an independent federal agency to investigate all police shootings, and terminate all cops who have three reports of misbehavior against them. That will reset the clock for a while.

White America is now starting to see what Black America has known for decades.

Too many cops are trigger-happy when it comes to black men.

More Whites have been killed by cops than Blacks.

That doesn't seem to make the news.

We are a police state. The reason we put up with it is because the targets of this police state are minorities and the poor both of which have no power politically, economically or morally in this version of America. I think it has always been this way though. We have always used the police and the criminal justice system to protect wealth, power and the upper class. The origins of all police departments in America started with private citizens hiring the Pinkertons of this world to protect their interests. When police became common, all they did was swap a private badge for a publicly sanctioned badge, the masters were the same, the targets were the same, the outcomes were the same. Today, most of America is immune to police abuse not because we are not committing crimes but because we never get caught doing those crimes. If every crime in America were to be magically prosecuted, there would be no one left but the police. Let me give you an example. I lived in Texas for three years and hung out with a lot of white conservatives. Many of them smoked pot regularly. Did any of them get arrested or have swat teams banging down their doors? Nope. Did any of them get shot when pulled over because they had a gun under the seat? Nope. But talk to any black man in Texas and they will tell you a different story. Same crimes, different enforcement outcomes. When the cops kill on sight today, some of us rebel in horror, many more say they had it coming. We are talking about a death sentence sanctioned by the state if you are black and pulled over. It can happen anywhere, anytime to any black person in America. We are a police state, end of story.

Cops see a black man, they too often they just see a criminal that deserves to be shot.

    this needs to be fixed.

Do we really know all the facts yet? The video was started after the shooting....not before...
    Did he do everything right?
Don't tell an officer that you have weapon and a permit at the same time you are reaching for something...
You tell them and and don't move.....They will tell you what to do....and when...

That's true, but clearly if this story is true, the cop needs to be in some deep (*)(*)(*)(*).

It's up to the investigators now to corroborate or deny her accusations.

I hate how they're politicizing this and making it about race and not defending cops. First off Michael Brown should have been shot, the Alton dude should have been shot... however, based on seeing this video, this looks like he was gunned down for no good reason and the cop is in some serious trouble. Would be nice if they stuck up for the cops though and not make them out to be the bad guys after everyone of these incidents.

    The stats are easy!

The limit is ZERO. It's not as if calculus is required for that.

So, if we're over that limit, then there is a problem that must be addressed.

Really, the only issue is that too many seem to think the limit only applies to white persons.

Lol @ your ....well its as I stated. Can you tell us in your best most intelligent use of all your brain cells how you ensure that in a police force covering over 300 million people you get a 100% perfect police force without 1 single bad cop? I cant wait to hear your utopia formula that at no point in human history has ever been achieved. Yeah we all want perfect but that doesnt happen because humans are imperfect and always will be. Otherwise we wouldnt need police in the first place would we.

Whether that us true if not it appears to be so. These two cases make it very difficult to defend.

I m still not clear in the Minnesota case why the officer was on the passenger side of the car and asking for the passenger's license and registration while the driver filmed from the driver's side.

Yes, that may be true but the incident in the OP happened in Minnesota.

    So my post stands:

Right now there isn't information on whether the man declared he had a gun or not....
