Ha! Is that supposed to have some meaning? Getting a little pissy that you aren't able to make a valid point?
    roflol:

Didn't you say you had to meet force with force?
Pointing a gun at me or threatening me with a baseball bat is a threat of deadly force.
Thus, the right to use deadly force in self-defense.

Thanks for showing us how you think. That was pathetic. You would let people run all over you to be accepted into your little clique of liberal buddies.

    American political hooliganism.
    Meh... Boring.
Alinsky? I've seen that name invoked often but I have no idea who that is.

I'm European. Not sure why you think that post has any relevance to me or this thread.
Well... Hooliganism is not known for rationality.

How I think? Or how Scandinavian law works?
This thread is pathetic. As are all the "defenders" of the OP.

    There's nothing "sketchy" about that.

If you point a gun at someone you are committing assault with a deadly weapon. Prepare to get your ass waxed.

LOL - Pull your balls out, man.

You should put a sign in your front yard expressing that "noble" sentiment. You're a crime statistic waiting to happen...

As I said, "all other rights are equally up for grabs". Here, you are essentially suggesting the poor and hungry should feel more secure in the "right" to suffer no consequences for invading a home than the occupants should have in defending it. you are turning rights on their ear.

That is pretty much how a Danish judge would rule in my best knowledge.
Its property and valuables. Human life is worth more than your earthly belongings. Well... You know. They do here. You can kill people for walking in the wrong neighbourhood or knocking on your door.

You don't think selling the gun would have been a better choice?

Wouldn't this be a major story on a major news site in Finland?

Sounds like a great way to encourage violent crime.

Sounds like a great place to take a vacation. I need a new TV anyway.

To quote Monty Python, "Finland! Finland! Finland!"

But seriously the confusion here is a sort of error of parallax. The US has states with self defence laws that seem very strange to non-Americans. And vice versa. But they are built on need. The US is a violent society and people feel that they need to be able to use what, in another country, might be seen to be unreasonable force. For example, a breaker running away from your house, you shoot him because he broke into your house. Okay in some states. Not okay in some others and probably not okay in many countries. I would think Finland is quite a peaceful country (never been there but any country that gave us Linus Torvalds is okay in my book) so no need for the "wild west" approach of the defence in some of the states in the US.

    It's all about perspective.

The man was apparently expected to assume the intruders didn't actually intend to use the weapons they brought with them. If he had not acted, he might very well have ended up badly hurt or dead.

Baseball bat, a knife, and a gun and the response is considered 'excessive' self protection. You can't make this stuff up.

LoL Europe is doomed. They might as well go ahead and stab themselves when they're attacked.

The same reason black on white, black on hispanic, and black on black crime are swept under the rug here......Gotta keep the focus on what lefties want and not allow the public to get a clue about reality. Lefties love criminals, which is why they are for attacking law abiding citizens gun rights instead of turning the attention to the major problem.

It's all a game to the left.

You don't have a point. You're completely without a sense of right and wrong.

No it's not. A thief doesn't just steal an object. He steals the part of a persons life that they invested in acquiring that object. They try to steal part of my life they should pay with part of theirs. If they are stealing with armament involved they should forfeit their entire life. INSTANTLY.

    Pure insanity.

I wonder if that nonsense extends to their military.

Just let some foreign country invade and take what they want, they PROBABLY won't kill anyone, just take all their stuff.

LMAO omg they might as well just hang themselves.

    Additionally...
If the thief presents a weapon while stealing something, he is no longer just stealing, he is threatening someone's life.
That's sufficient for the use of deadly force in self defense - at least in places with rational laws.

It's now crystal clear to me why Hitler was so successful.

Many Europeans bent over for Hitler and just let him waltz in, and even went after their own citizens when their populations didn't comply.
