Much thanks to Wikileaks, we may finally get to the bottom of why we were in Benghazi and stayed while most other western nations just cleared out. Hopefully, Assange will release the eMails in the second week of September so the details will filter out to the public before the election. Heaven's knows the Lame Stream Media mouth pieces for the Democrat party won't cover anything about it. Trump should simply buy CNN or a large chunk of their air time to counter act the left wing spin.

Eastern Libya has always been hostile towards Gaddafi.. Sirte, Benghazi, Ras Lanuf, Marsa Brega... The war raged in Libya from Feb 2011 (US embassy closed) thru October 2011)

Some militias in the East had fought against Ghaddafi and formed the Transitional Council which was trying to bring back the Libyan constitution under Idris.

The Annex was staffed by CIA (not soldiers) ... linguists, analysts, communications officers and translators.. There was NO US consulate in Benghazi... no Consulate general, no Marine guard.

 

After 13 investigations and millions of wasted taxpayer dollars I believe the crackpots should call it a day. If you don't get that you can join their club.

In an interview with Reuters published in June, Libyan warlord Abdul Basit Haroun declared he is behind some of the biggest shipments of weapons from Libya to Syria. Most of the weapons were sent to Turkey, where they were then smuggled into neighboring Syria, he said.

Haroun explained he sent a massive weapons shipment from the port in Benghazi in August 2012, days before the attack on the U.S. compound. The weapons were smuggled into Syria aboard a Libyan ship that landed in Turkey purportedly to deliver humanitarian aid.

Ismail Salabi, a commander of the February 17 Brigade, told Reuters that Haroun was a member of the Brigade until he quit to form his own brigade.

The February 17 Brigade provided external security to the attacked Benghazi U.S. compound, including the villa where Stevens lived when he was in Benghazi. Stevens held his last meeting with a Turkish diplomat in the compound and ultimately died there in the attack.

The February 17 Brigade is part of the al-Qaida-linked Ansar Al-Sharia, a militia that advocates the strict implementation of Islamic law in Libya and elsewhere.

I don't know how to put this to you, but it looks like Hillary lied. And honestly, when new facts are presented, most educated folk read them and try to assess what they mean. I don't recall any scientific method which involves throwing out facts that don't support your current understanding on a topic.

We can only speculate about arms going to Syria... especially as late as 2012.. The Syrian conflict broke out in March 2011.

10,000 Sunnis in the Syrian army defected and took their weapons with them.

 

So no...you can't demonstrate to anyone that Janes is merely speculating.

The adventures of a Libyan weapons dealer in Syria | Reuters


Abdul Basit Haroun says he is behind some of the biggest shipments of weapons from Libya to Syria, which he delivers on chartered flights to neighbouring countries and then smuggles over the border.

After fleeing Libya in his 20s, Haroun established himself as a property developer in Manchester. After about two decades in the British city, he returned to Libya in 2011 to fight in the revolution, where he became a prominent rebel commander.

He says he sends aid and weapons to help Syrians achieve the freedom he fought for during the Libyan revolution.

The first consignment of weapons was smuggled into Syria aboard a Libyan ship delivering aid last year, Haroun says, but now containers of arms are flown "above board" into neighbouring countries on chartered flights.

In the months since Haroun began his work, arming the rebels has moved up the international agenda, with Saudi Arabia equipping them with missiles, and Washington also planning to send weapons to the men fighting President Bashar al-Assad.

Haroun spoke to Reuters over coffee and homemade cake late at night at his villa on the outskirts of Benghazi, the eastern city that began the uprising that deposed Muammar Gaddafi.

His son, a young man who spoke English with a Manchester accent, offered help with weapon prices and other details.

Haroun was upset the West had not intervened in Syria, as it did in Libya and said the opportunity to avert a larger war had been missed.

"Even when the war in Syria ends, there will be another war in region; Sunni against Shia. At the beginning, there was just Assad to bring down ... now Hezbollah, Iran are involved."

A Reuters reporter was taken to an undisclosed location in Benghazi to see a container of weapons being prepared for delivery to Syria. It was stacked with boxes of ammunition, rocket launchers and various types of light and medium weapons.

Haroun and an associate said it was being stored on the unnamed base to keep the arms safe.

"They are not partners with me in the transfer of weapons, but I store the weapons here because it is a safe place," said Haroun's associate, who asked not to be named because it could negatively impact his relief work.

No LEGIT source confirms that ANY US groups exported Libyan weapons to Syria or Iraq. If that DID happen.. It would be the CIA, not the Sec State. Generally... we never knew WHO we could trust (except the Kurds)

Bagdad (shia) and Turkey and random Sunni.. don't LIKE the Kurds but they had the BALLS to fight ISIS. They were GOOD to US troops in Iraq. I'd have been okay with Arming the Kurds... which has only happened recently (and not enough). Euros did recently arm the Kurds so..... cool with that.
