Christmas Day and the day ater Christmas are both public holidays in Pakistan, a muslim country. https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/pakistan/2017 Christmas Day is also a national holiday in Jordan, a muslim country. https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/jordan/ Christmas Day is a public holiday in Indonesia, the most populous muslim country, https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/indonesia/ Christmas Day is a national holiday in Hong Kong. https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/hong-kong/ Christmas Day is also a public holiday in Chad. https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/chad/ Can any of those countries really be described as Christian strongholds?
Do you also do The Feast of Unleaven Bread and the Feast of Weeks, the 3rd and 6th Commandments? Chanukah didn't make the Top Ten.
Only if fines to the court. No one in America can be jailed for private debt, and it's in 50 state constitutions.
Many of our top Christmas carols and favorite classic Christmas movies were written/directed by Jews. People like the message of joy, peace on earth and goodwill toward men. It's a good message, and a warm feeling. - - - Updated - - - Yes, and Dickens was astute -- there's always a Scrooge!
I applaud you -- regardless of what one's religion is, the Spirit of Christmas is one of joy, love, goodwill toward men (meaning women too). Joy to you!
Crap is still crap regardless of the name. https://www.aclu.org/issues/racial-justice/race-and-criminal-justice/debtors-prisons http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2016/02/debtors-prison/462378/ And slavery is still legal in America, the place that lacks Christmas spirit 24/7/365.
Even the Bible says that people shouldn't believe Jewish fairy tales. Titus 1:14 (CEV) = "Don’t pay any attention to any of those senseless Jewish stories and human commands. These are made up by people who won’t obey the truth."
You are missing the point - the "things" Christians do is an allegory. The return of the sun (Son) to take away the darkness, and lighting the candle or yule log to symbolize the light of the world, and of the everlasting life of evergreens. Imagine the joy of primitive northern Europeans when the days kept getting shorter and shorter, then finally the sun shone longer and they realized they were saved.
Debtor prison specifically refers to those jailed for private debt. There has never been a time on earth where you wouldn't be jailed by the state for fines, and I seriously doubt there ever will be. If you want to fight injustices in the legal system, there are modern imbalances to which the keen intellect of academia seems to not even notice. Stacking Charges: A plea bargain deal doesn't change the fact the dynamic of not guilty vs guilty is still in play. A 90%+ plea bargain rate in every American county means over 90%+ guilty rate. I guarantee you even in the days of double jeopardy the guilty rate wasn't 100%. My guess is it was sitting at the exact same guilty rate as what we're seeing in 2016. Civil and Criminal Law: What this serves to do is basically make all wrongs going from the top down in economic offense civil, while all crimes going from the bottom up in economic offence criminal (swat teams and machine guns). They pass it as justice because those in the criminal half of the coin get publicly appointed representation, but in all actuality, because the working class and less are forced to find their own representation for civil matters, there is almost zero chance of any of those guilty of civil crimes ever seeing a day in court. There must be only 1 system of law, with court appointed representation if one cannot be afforded. War On Drugs/Nonviolent Forced Coercion/False Statement Confessions: The War on Drugs is an obvious one. Prohibition doesn't work. But some things came out of it that hardly constitute justice in law enforcement practices. These 2 things are nonviolent forced coercion and false statement confessions. Nonviolent coercion being using someone's freedom as bait to get a confession. False Statement Confessions being those achieved by the law enforcement questioning said defendant using false information as bait. The Precedent of Knowledge: There will be a time when a person can't be found guilty of a crime that the state can't prove the person knew was a crime. Unless the state can prove said defendant knew the specifics of the law they were breaking, they must be set free. The state is 100% responsible for the education of the citizenry on current laws. All of these things I truly believe will be common benchmarks of law in the future, and the sooner we move to apply them, the sooner we can tell kids we stopped.
That is why it is ok now for people to say "Merry Christmas" without the feeling that they will be mocked. Things are changing for the better...
Not really an answer. When you start the chaos. a resounding yes. Ask yourself, did he really try? The UN vote is a prime example of creating chaos and supporting Israel's enemies.
I agree, as long as it is truly THEIR comfort zone, and not one imposed on them. When I wish a total stranger a Merry Christmas, I am not requiring or urging them to accept my religious beliefs. I am wishing upon them the benefit of those beliefs, which is peace, joy, and goodwill. There is no offense intended when wishing a Merry Christmas. Indeed, people have responded, "and a happy Chanukah too!" and it all spreads good cheer.
