It's always amusing to see Republicans called racist by people who are themselves hypersensitive to race and interpret everything they see in those terms. They're deep in the confirmation bias.

Your argument fails on three fronts.

1 You are assuming that the place one comes form determines their politics. There has long been known a certain phenomenon concerning poor ethnic minority dominated neighborhoods. That is that those individuals who are able to rise above the norm of the neighborhood tend to move out, to better neighborhoods elsewhere. The net effect is not only a brain drain in the neighborhood but also a loss of mentors and standard bearers to influence those coming up to strive for better things.

It appears that the red-blue divide that has been being foisted upon us over the past 20-30 years has been producing a similar effect. Those individuals who aspired to be more than rural areas or small towns could provide - artists, musicians, scientists, researches, engineers, designers, lawyers.... have gone to college, moved away to places where the future is yet to realized.

The net result of this intellectual migration has been essentially a brain drain in red, Republican dominated areas. The other side of this divide, the bright blue areas, the Democratically dominated areas, have seen an influx of talent and innovation.

2 Jack Kilby didn't invent a viable product from a production point of view. It was Bob Noyce who designed the first mass producible integrated circuit. Noyce went on to co-found Intel and become a mentor to Steve Jobs. If one looks into the lives of these men and other innovators, like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg one finds that they overwhelmingly lean liberal.

3 Take out your political map and start mapping the locations of all the high tech companies and you'll soon find that they are all in bright blue areas. Texas Instruments is in Dallas, the most liberal part of Texas, after Austin of course. Microsoft is in Redmond, Washington. Intel in Hillsborough, Oregon. Apple in Cupertino, California. Then there are all the small players who congregate in places like Silicon Valley in California, Boulder Colorado, and Cambridge Massachusetts.

This discussion has been going around for quite some time. Among many people in Oregon and Washington if given the choice would much prefer to join forces with California rather than remain with the conservative idiocracy that has been sweeping across the country.

I realize this is a few years old, but it couldn't have changed to much. Looks like they're a big contributor and not a bunch sitting on their dead asses.

Portland Oregon, Boulder Colorado, Cambridge Massachusetts, San Francisco California, Seattle Washington All some of the brightest blue liberal cities in the United States. Every one of these cities is also extremely white. When I lived in Boulder we used to joke that if it wasn't for the athletic program at the University of Colorado we wouldn't have any blacks. The poorest neighborhoods in the Portland area are mostly to the south, in Republican dominated Clackamas County, in the industrial areas populated by white trash.

You're not getting it...if CA truly broke away from the US, it would be an independent nation...zero connections to the US government. CA would be just like Canada...adjacent but a separate nation. All the federal government stuff would need to be removed unless the new CA wished to lease those buildings and land to the federal government. But again, because of myriad reasons CA is not going to secede from the nation...

Better yet we could build a wall to keep out the ignorant conservative garbage. I would much rather have a nice Mexican family living next door to me than some moronic conservative who thinks his guns make him tough.

The problem with getting one's information form right-wing sources is that it causes one to make assumptions that don't square with reality.

California, if left to its own would have the sixth largest economy in the world. While Republicans spent all of last year complaining about how crappy the US has become; Democratic California and Oregon tied with the greatest increases in GDP of all states.

There will come a time when oil will run out, besides the fact that it is environmentally damaging. On the west coast there many projects underway to designed to make oil obsolete. We have wind farms, massive photovoltaic cell arrays, and these nifty gizmos that bounce up and down in ocean waves. Electric cars are also coming into their own. One can drive an electric car from LA to Seattle and not have to worry about not finding charging stations.

    Liberals are forward looking.

I agree, build a wall around all blue counties, and don't come out.

That's very tolerant of you, nice. By the way I have a few guns, they don't make me tough, they make me safe.

San Francisco is only 40% white, so I don't know why you would include that one on your list. Seattle is 60% white. But granted, there are definitely cities that can be safely called "land of the rich white liberal". Those who grew up with the "privilege" they try and rob others from in order to retain their "elite" status. But it's funny how these wonderful cities that you point to in your arguments have a very low percentage of blacks and Hispanics. In my area, the blue counties are the way they are because of the monolithic voting habits of those two particular groups. The stereotype you throw out about intellectuals and artists voting blue seems to be limited to just white people, since the ones who vote blue the most here don't strike me as intellectuals or artists. It's amazing how those two polar opposites seem to vote the same way, doesn't it?

I thought you types hated walls? Or is it just walls that help America, walls around your own house to protect your own property is just fine?

Anyway, I think everyone will agree to a wall around California. When does construction start?

Good for them. The fifth largest economy in the world doesn't need Trump and his ignorant, racist, redneck friends. Maybe other states will do the same? Then Trump will be left with nothing but his corrupt rejects who voted for him.

I wish it could happen, but we both know that, in reality, it won't. You on the radical Democrat Left want to be rid of us just as much as we Constitutional Conservatives want to be rid of you! You are certain you would be better off in your smug coastal enclaves without "rednecks" and other "deplorables", and we who make up a majority in about 42 of the other states dream of how nice it would be to see the last of your embedded welfare ghettos, illegal aliens, and other hyperliberal-provided squalor where it has become fashionable to pretend that a person doesn't even know where he/she/whatever is supposed to PEE in public anymore. :roflol:

I wish you guys could go -- NOW -- before the earthquakes hit the West Coast. Hint: according to Dr. Brian Atwater, you in Seattle and those hyperlib morons south of you in Portland are going to get to enjoy an earthquake (and tsunami) that will be greater than 9.0 on the Magnitude Scale. When (not 'if') it happens, your eyes will be as big and round as pie plates, and you'll be wanting the rest of us to pay for it all. But if President Trump is in office, and you're in a foreign country, the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia, Oregon, and Washington can POUND SAND! Quite literally....

YOU don't get the Umited States is not going to simply give up the land it owns mor the facilities it owns. California does not own nor control federal land nor does it have claim to it. Forget about Ft. Sumpter?

Liberals forward looking? Are these the same liberals that nominated a 69 year old very unpopular Clinton?

I've been to Palm Springs California and on the highway there I saw thousands of windmills. Almost none were working. California wind farms are a failure.

California couldn't survive as a country. It's too soft. It'd fall to the first invasion.

How would you know right? You just deleted all my links, of which you obviously have offered no rebuttal or challenge to. Bravo! You just succeeded in saying absolutely nothing.

Let the state secede. Then when they're begging for re admittance to the union, hang the most prominent 300,000 to 400,000 Democrats as price for re admittance.
