I am a liberal. And I am pro-refugee.

I am taking the common liberal position which is to support refugees moving into your neighborhood, not mine. Isnt this cool and progressive? You cant accuse me of racism now because I want unlimited refugees moving into your neighborhood. Because i am a liberal progressive I want all refugees coming into the United States to move into someone elses neighborhood, which makes me tolerant, anti-racist, compassionate and full of love. And don't you dare criticize me over the numbers, I am so tolerant you can have the entire Islamic world move into your neighborhood, not mine.

Seriously, why don't people see how dumb this is? I am serious when i say that we say that we should petition President Trump to not spread the refugees out in many states. We need to have him change this policy to resettle refugees in all of the most liberal areas of the country and have them concentrated there. This needs to be done because we will be able to effectively judge if refugee immigration is good or bad or not by giving the refugees their own city or two. Massachusetts and Hollywood loves refugees! They are so tolerant! Hollywood libearls cry for refugees. I say bring them ALL over to Hollywood and spare the conservative areas of the country who didn't vote for this from this hell. Why do the conservative states have to suffer over a liberal policy and idea?

Minnesotta is a blue state. Its fine by me. And I am being serious, not sarcastic. Refugees should only go to a few areas and that's it. Its the liberals who want them. So it must be a liberal place.

Listen, after 25-39 years of accepting Somali refugees, only 41% of males are employed. In 2012, a Minnesota sheriff testified at a House hearing about the growing threat of Somali gangs in his state. Talk about assimilation.
And they have no idea how many Somalis they have now. In 2009, the Minnesota Historical Society said the population was 28,450. Then they say other sources place the number at 60,000. With problems like this, those that demand the US take them had better take care of them.

Well, some can move next to me. That would not be a problem.
I would say that most just want jobs to better their situation.
And they will take many of the jobs that most people do not want.
My grandfather came here from Poland with all his belongings in a trunk that I still have.
He was dirt poor, never could speak English, but he gave his children the joy of America.
His children ending up serving in the Armed Forces, getting blue collar jobs, and making certain their children were educated.
That's how it works.

I do find it somewhat strange with all the anti-Muslim talk that I see on this board & in everyday life.
I'm not sure if it is because of ignorance, absence of contact with Muslims on a day to day basis, or some form of warped Christianity.

I've had the opportunity to work with many groups of people and have had zero issues.
But then again, I do not belong to any tribe. No Trump tribe, no Clinton tribe, no tribe at all.

 

My grandfather came to America from Poland in 1892 when he was 7 years old. So what. Doesn't change the fact that this group of refugees is not assimilating and is a drain on welfare dollars. After over 20 years there is a male unemployment rate of 59%! You are welcome to take them in your neighborhood. PS Get a gun and a good alarm system.

I am progressive and I support common sense immigration reform that allows people in who have immediate relatives like parents, spouses or children here who can support them or have a legal job already arranged for. If you want to take citizenship by birth away, okay as long as we have a system in place to allow a more realistic entry/exit program. If you want to limit government benefits in some way in tiers, fine with that too as long as people are not paying into a retirement system they will never be able to draw out of.

When your grandfather came here, he most likely lived in an area with other Poles, if he had little money.
We tend to associate with people where we have a common bond.
Purely tribal, to be within a framework of a group that speaks the language of the old country.
Then a job. Assimilation might have been started with the next generation.
The small town near where I grew up had 6 bars.
The juke box in each bar had music choices for rock, country, & polkas.

Moving refugees to Hollywood certainly won't impact the "stars" at all. Hollywood's a ghetto now, has been for decades.

 

They live in the exclusively white areas of Hollywood. We need to change that.

 

It is more realism...and some conservative points are not completely unfounded. I recognize that the pie is only so big and the more people with forks, the less everyone gets. I recognize that most of these Muslim immigrants/refugees represent an existential threat to LGBT progress. I recognize that hiking up wages increases consumption that in turn increases environmental degradation. I am not a democrat. I often oppose the democratic positions as being too self-interested to the party and is thirst for power over promoting common sense policies that are based on principal. For instance, I would be all for spending a billion dollars putting solar panels on low-income housing, but not support a billion dollar subsidy to a Wall Street corporation so that people are held hostage by higher energy bills. Those sorts of things. On the immigration issue, I recognize that having immigrants to pick my lettuce helps keep the price of lettuce down, but we should also have a system to insure that those lettuce picker are free to live like normal people when here and should have some basic level of worker protections in relation to those who would exploit them.

 

Malibu, Brentwood, Beverly Hills ... that's where you hit them at home. No one "in" Hollywood, would be caught residing IN Hollywood ...

 

I would love to see a bunch of low income housing for muslims in these exclusive communities driving up the crime rate and bringing down their home values.
