I'm adding you to my VIP list @22catch because you do seem extremely bright. This entitles you to at least 1 or 2 "get out of jail free" cards. If you trip up logically or rhetorically or scientifically or even grammatically I will point this out. You will then have 2 chances to repent. Good luck. Welcome aboard. If I could I would start a Mensa club and you would be in it.
The problem there is that in the half-light of most bars I look positively scary. Besides, I think people that like to drink in caves are disturbed. Ah well, it guarantees that any women I do attract are creatures of uncommon perception and astute judgment
In the half-light of most bars everyone is already half drunk and this solves the problem of facial ugliness for both genders. Problem solved.
What the **** did I just read. In all fairness, a lot of "continental" philosophy revolves around the tradition of critique started by Kant, including social critique and the subsequent methods of critique developed afterwards. And it's not like there's any definite line to distinguish the two disciplines either way. That's not really a faithful interpretation of his position on science. He takes a generally nominalist approach to science in the sense that he points out that science creates entities and molds those entities over time. But the lesson he wants us to take from that isn't that science is all made-up bullshit, but that whether or not theoretical entities really exist is a non-issue as long as they are theoretically consistent and behave as expected.
They warned us in Freshman Chemistry 101 not to forget that theory is just theory and models are just models. The biggest mistake that neophytes make is forgetting that scientific theories are indeed all just made-up bull sh!t. This fact is clear from the perspective of Philosophy. Particularly when you define Science and differentiate it from Philosophy and from Religion. The other big mistake that most scientists and non-scientists make is to elevate Science to a Religion.
Easy killer, My responses were light heartedly actually aimed at yiostheoy not our new member since I found his initial query as to her gender mildly tacky and irrelevant. So I decided to have a bit of fun with him, and He picked up the sarcasm and played along like a champ. There's many female posters and no one cares and no one needs a safe space here. My apologies SuperSymmetry if you didn't catch on to my intent. I was kidding around. welcome to PF
Every time I see this thread title, I can only think of the song "There's A New Kid In Town." Good tune!
