In fact they are way worse now. We saw what a Bernie Sanders supporter will do to those he doesn't approve of on a Portland train, we've seen what BLM will do when agitated. If you don't want to be associated with hateful racists, leave the Democrat party...

The divide started a long time before Trump got elected. Its not a civil war exactly, but its a pretty serious divide in that each side is abandoning common ground. What I mean is that each side sees "Americans" and American concerns entirely differently. Each side sees the other as uncaring about the future of the country and absorbed in its own unrealistic ideology. Each sees the others political leaders as liars and con artist.

Put it all together and it gets very difficult to find anything to agree on. Its not a civil war, but we are a country that is currently experiencing a bit of self loathing.

Which supposed right wingers have ever done harm to a black church? We know plenty of Democrats have burned down black churches, lynched innocent people, and what not. There may have been a conservative or two that blew up some baby killers, but that pales in comparison to the KKKs crimes. While it pains me to know that some very few on my side would resort to violence, mankind has not yet achieved perfection, but conservatism is getting closer every day...

We call them parties, not factions. We all get along over here quite well despite our differences. From what I have seen, Europeans have been fed a very skewed picture. America is the most diverse country on the map. We like our freedom, our peace, our comfort, our security. If Americans were going to oppose any institution, it would be our own government. Which is what we did when we put Trump in office. Life for Americans hasn't changed since Trump. I doubt it will change much at all during his tenure.

Correct, Revolutions being when a mass of people start feeling like they have nothing to loose. We are a million miles from that here in the US.

 

In the 1930s such talk was a genuine concern because we had a popular Communist Party, and popular Socialist Party, and strong labor unions, and they all worked together. That is why FDR was able to get the tax rates he got and create the programs he did. And since then the capitalist class has been very successful in relegating the Communist and Socialist parties to irrelevance and in reducing the union membership from about 25% of the work force to about 7%.

Consequently, the chance of any uprising succeeding is very slim or less. The option, then (and a more promising one anyway) is to build worker cooperatives to eliminate capitalism gradually.

This can be done without violence, and the capitalists won't even see it coming. Heck, their government is making it possible.
