Has a new American Civil War begun?

Trumps election victory seems to have seriously split Americans down the middle, half of them love him to bits and the other half hate his cotton socks..
I'm British and am just wondering how the two rival factions get on with each other, for example if you're a Trumpist, could you be friendly with an anti-Trumpist (and vice-versa)?
Personally I'm extreme right wing and avoid lefties like the plague here in England..

Now Trump is the star of the nightly follies which used to be called the evening news.

 

Yes, I hadn't used to be interested in politics, but now I'm hooked on "The Don Show" and hang on his every word..

 

Yeah maybe stop watching the news. Sure things in certain areas are heated and plenty of... interesting arguments are had between both sides, but it ain't no civil war. Iv only had to disown one of my friends because of the trump election. So far.

My wife voted for trump, no way in hell would I have ever considered him. Actually we voted opposite last 3 elections

No big deal. My parents are the same, mother voted clinton, dad went with trump.

Not a big deal around my house, workplace, softball team or at parties. Cuz 9/10 are normal peeps, so it's cool. Now the 1/10, that's a whole different story, that's their problem and honestly they are not normal on a LOT of issues not just politics.

The media tends to focus on the extreme examples and pretends they represent the majority when in reality it's not even close.

 

I have never seen the country so divided. The blame goes to the liberal leftists......they are the sore losers who simply can't accept that they lost the election. They will do anything to bring the President down........it's become pathological when you have CNN doing several stories about Trump having two scoops of ice cream.....sad really

The left tends to compromise for the greater good so they won't start a civil war.

The right has the power now. It would be stupid for them to start a civil war as they will end up losing a lot more than they did last time.

 

Trump "wants to make America great again", so does that mean the people who didn't vote for him don't want to make America great again?

The Right/Left divide in the states is different here. In Europe it seems to be a fight over who controls through the government, the Right is those that want the government controlled so that we have more freedom and personal liberty.

The country is moving right and probably will continue that direction for a generation for these 5 reasons:

1. The Supreme Court Is A Changing.
President Trump has already chosen one Supreme Court justice, and there’s a good chance that he’s going to wind up choosing three more Supreme Court justices, two of whom lean to the left.

If Trump lasts two terms, we’re definitely going to see a Supreme Court that is dominated by conservatives for the next 20-30 years. So even when liberals take back Congress and the presidency on occasion, many of their most radical ideas won’t be able to take hold for many moons.

2. Immigration Is Going To Decline
The percentage of the population that is foreign born hasn’t been this high since the early 1900’s, and most of those immigrants are liberal. We can expect people like Trump to restrict the border and maybe pass laws that will decrease immigration to some degree.

Considering how crucial his immigration stance was to his victory, it’s clear that a growing number of Americans want the border tightened up, and the number of immigrants moving here to decrease. There will be more conservatives voting for politicians who will try to lower immigration rates, because…

3. The Next Generation Is Incredibly Conservative
According to a study from last year, Generation Z, which represents kids born after the year 2000, is the most conservative generation since World War Two. To give you an idea of just how right-wing the next generation is, when asked if they are “quite conservative,” 14% of teenagers say they are, compared to just 2% of Millennials. That’s a mind boggling shift, from one generation to the next.

4. Conservatives Out-breed Libs
Because liberal women tend to be more career minded and wait longer to have children, they often have fewer kids over the course of their lives. That’s why liberal states always have lower birth rates than conservative states.

All of the states with a birth rate of of 60 or less per 1000 people are liberal, and all of the states with a birth rate of 70 or more per 1000 people are conservative. These states still have a sizeable mix of conservatives and liberals. Even the most liberal states have millions of conservative residents and vice versa, which offsets the results. Libs are having very very few children. They’re probably not reaching the minimum replacement rate of 2.1 children per mother.

When you consider how many values kids learn from their parents and carry into adulthood, it’s obvious that the Left has a serious demographic problem. The only way they’ve been able to create more liberals, is through immigration and through indoctrination in the school system. Unfortunately for the Left, they’re not going to have a stranglehold on our schools for much longer either.

5. Leftist Academia Is In Serious Trouble
From Kindergarten to college, our schools are breeding grounds for liberal ideas. We’ve seen the horrifying rise of political correctness and social justice beliefs on college campuses. These institutions are little more than indoctrination centers for the Left.

We have a whole generation of kids who were buried in over a trillion dollars worth of debt, just so they could get worthless liberal arts degrees that won’t ever help them get a job. They paid tens of thousands of dollars to be indoctrinated by liberal professors, before going back home to live with their parents.

Student loans constitute a bubble in our economy, and once it pops, colleges are going to have to cut back on many classes that don’t actually increase the earning power of students. Coincidentally, the fields of study that harbor the most libs, are the ones that don’t help most students get jobs, like the arts, humanities, liberal arts, gender studies, etc. Colleges are going to be forced to trim the fat, and many of these Marxist professors and diversity administrators are going to get the axe.

The number of kids being home-schooled is growing rapidly, and most of their parents are conservatives. They’re raising a new generation that isn’t brainwashed by government run schools.

The mainstream media, that is wed to the left, is dying. So basically, every institution that the Left uses to teach its ideas, from the media to academia, is crumbling away.

Everything liberals have relied on to bolster their ranks, propagate their ideas, and pass their laws, are failing. Over the next few decades, America is going to become much more conservative.

Honestly it really is mostly lefties fault and it was proven during Obama's years. Lefties care about identity politics and maybe some BS about how the earth's climate has been changing for millions of years. Other than that, it's solely about identity politics, unless you identify as not liberal, then you are bad. It's about women, unless you aren't a liberal woman, it's about gays, unless you aren't a liberal gay (they exist in plenty), it's about terrorists , yea, will never understand that one. It's about how bad the rich people are, unless of course they give you bunches of money, it's about not the truth. That's the saddest part. You have all of what is now consider mainstream media pulling every card they can and just shoving everything journalism used to be out the door. Journalism used to be about finding the truth, now its about pushing a leftist, globalist agenda. That's fine, real journalism is out there, it's loud and it comes from the new right. The game has changed. Nobody but the past devoted care about MSM. The conservative party is weak, the new right is not. How fast Kathy Griffin's career got ruined in a matter of 24 hours is just a start. It's been going on before that, it will go on.

I work with Trumpers all the time. I'm surrounded by them. My best friend is a Trumper Thumper. LOL! So I tell him he's an idiot and soon he'll know I'm right.

 

I don't have a problem with other people's political leaning. Unless they are rude and judgemental, which is common here, but not in person.

 

As much as I despise leftist ideology, I seriously doubt I could bring myself to inflict violence on other Americans for following that ideology.
But, that being said, I know there's a small group of people on both sides chomping at the bit to inflict violence. The internet, and social media is the medium being used to inflame extremism as well.
Look at the whole Kathy Griffin nonsense, with her posing with Trump's head. Honestly, who the **** thinks that's expectable? Since the election of Trump, the left has become more unhinged, and prone to violence.
When Obama was president, rightwing kooks did the same exact thing as well, maybe not as violent, but defiantly as paranoid.

I think extremist on both sides want a civil war, but I don't think a majority of Americans will want to go down that road. At least, I hope not.

Trump is doing a great job. Pulling out of the climate deal has been the icing on the cake.

CNN is so hilarious. They keep going on about how all his decisions are wrong, when he is doing exactly what we voted for him to do. The left just can't wrap their heads around the fact that we have zero interest in the leftist agenda. For every 1 story about what is going on in the rest of the world, they have at least 5 stories about trump and what they perceive as his failures (though the rest of us view these percieved failures as victories). America is finally getting back on track where we need to be.

I haven't seen the right try to burn down their own cities and destroy their own places of work. The left gets so irrational in their rage. Their is a complete difference in tactics. It's like night and day. The right keeps their individuality intact. The left becomes a hive mind bent on senseless hate and destruction, where any dissent is met with ridicule and violence.
