Time to tear down statues/memorials/monuments to George again - George Washington. If you don't stand against slave-holding serial rapists, you stand with them. Right?
Destruction of art & history should start at home; they should only be allowed to protest in Chicago if they defaced a monument in their home town.
Ooo - nice edit. (Original in bold was a bit racial, eh?) Edited to add: You edited it back? Confusing...
I'm sure it wasn't intentional... Back to the OP, I think this kind of protest is really kind of AWESOME: non-violent, constitutional, and they look like complete idiots. Say - maybe they're a comedy troupe?
No good evidence George Washington raped anybody. As for the slaveholding thing, society has been evolving slowly over time and you can't expect people of the past to have everything perfectly right. What matters is that they changed things for the better and were on the side of progress for their time. Washington fits that bill and Balbo doesn't. Sorry but comparing our founding fathers to facists who fought alongside Hitler isn't going to work.
I don't know what Jesus has to do with capitalism and actually he advocated for giving all we had to the poor, preached against loving money, and warned that most rich people won't get into heaven. The early church had a voluntary communist society as detailed in Acts.
I didn't do that, but you agree then that the Jefferson Memorial must come down? We'll start with that, then work our way up to the Washington MonuPenus. (Almost rhymes with Venus.) Jefferson's disgraceful boobery should be easier to sledgehammer into pieces than the MonuPenus anyway... After that, we can take our Bics to the Declaration! w00t! ********* Disclaimer: Precious emblems of our shared cultural history such as the above should not be used as pawns in disgusting political games.
You seem to be extremely left-wing and seem to express so radical that I have not heard from anybody on the left. The Washington Monument doesn't even look like a penis, it has corners, is pointy at the end, and is really really long. If you think all long things look like penuses then maybe the problem is with your dirty brain. Why would we take down memorials just because they are flawed by today's standards? What matters is that they made great achievements for their times and made the world a better place than it was and contributed to making the great world today possible. Confederates and fascists fought to roll society backwards and there is no reason to celebrate them. We make monuments to celebrate people, and why are we celebrating people who didn't do anything good?
Jesus may have had some impractical ideas but he didn't oppress anybody. You may hate Christianity but please don't lie about it.
My dirty brain tells me that if seceding is cause for monument removal, than rape is as well. Greater cause, in fact. The idea that raping someone is flawed behavior to be overlooked, but that secession is a vastly more egregious act to be addressed by the erasure or concealment of its proponents does NOT fly with me, nor should it fly with any moral person.
While we're going Full Retard let's destroy anything and everything associated with the tyrannical Abrahamic religions that have spilled oceans of blood across the planet...
Now the left is going after Ulysses S. Grant. "Grant's Tomb" in NYC is under review. Grant? The general that defeated the South? Good God. We have lost our minds. This is a complete erasure of history.
Actually, when you consider that many "anti-fascists" have become the fascists they claim to oppose that makes perfect sense...
It has to do with a war time expulsion order that Grant signed, revoked and disavowed. But here we are - anyone who is controversial, imperfect or has made a mistake in their lives must be obliterated from our collective consciousness and memory, despite the contributions - in Grant's case ENORMOUS contributions - they made to our country and its people. History isn't for snowflakes and simpletons, but now these snowflakes and simpletons are telling everyone else otherwise...
