Knowing Trump, he is likely only doing it so he can bask in praise about himself in the media and on Twitter. But, all the same, good on him for helping out like this.
He gets no credit. He's a ****ing crook that is going to defund the programs that actually help the folks after a natural disaster to give tax cuts to himself and his cronies. Stop giving him any credit, that is insane.
Trump Wants to Cut FEMA Budget Before the Next Major Hurricane http://www.newsweek.com/harvey-trump-fema-budget-disaster-preparedness-hurricane-657237
I'm sure those who will benefit from his donation would beg to differ with you. In all of your 20 years on Earth, do you know what it's like to lose everything you own, including your place of work? I'm going to say no, so don't down anyone for helping.
Good for Trump but, it's about time. All kinds of celebrities, sports teams / athletes and those Hollywood stars some around here hate so much were way ahead of him. Now, because it's Trump, and because of his "history" with charitable donations, I'll feel much better when the check(s) actually pass hands......he hasn't said whether it's a personal donation, a donation by Trump Corp. or, my personal favorite, his own piggy bank - the Trump Foundation. He also hasn't determined which group or groups will get the donation - he actually had Sanders ask the press where it should go. What a guy.......LOL. Thankfully, David Fahrenthold will be watching....and Trump knows it.
You are proud of a POTUS who sees no difference between white supremacists and 'regular' protestors? Noted.
FEMA is a completely inefficient group. They do some good, but they have to go through so much red tape, people suffer waiting for them to accomplish anything. I've seen multiple times. They are usually a complete disappointment. The best help usually comes from private charities and organizations. Don't get me wrong, FEMA needs to exist, but it needs an overhaul.
He is an ignorant self-serving savage and that is the bottom line. There are no variables with this POS.
It's the least he could do given his plan to slash disaster relief funds. Unfortunately, donald's $1m doesn't go very far in this situations where billions will be required to rebuild.
If Trump is really worth $10 billion than $1 million is 1/10,000'th of his net worth. The average net worth of the average American is (apparently) about $37,000. So what Trump did is like the average American giving $3.70. Plus, a very conservative return per year (after taxes, inflation, and fees) is 4%. Four per cent of $10 billion is $400,000,000 per year (after taxes). So he makes (in theory) over $1 million per day net (after taxes). So he gave less than a day's pay to the relief efforts. Better than nothing but big deal coming from a (so he claims) multi-billionaire POTUS.
This is bringing out the forum's partisan hacks Pardon me, but your comments could be seen as "insane", so.....
No, I'm saying he has a bad track record on stuff like this, but public pressure may change things this time. It's in the post you just responded to. We are dealing with a man who does not put any stock behind the concept of literal statements, so it is up in the air in this point.
