That's too vague to mean much of anything. It should read North Korea commits to giving up all it's nuclear weapons and delivery systems on December 31 2018 or some near date certain and it doesn't say that.

 

I think this Singapore meeting was nothing but political theatre.

It means the framework, and parameters for future negotiations have been agreed upon. Denuclearization has been defined, and Kim indicates that nuclear disarmament is an acceptable outcome. In the interim, provacative test launches are suspended, and redundant mock invasions of the Korean peninsula we already occupy, will cease. Kim has executed an abrupt about face, and Trump deserves to be credited for his unwaivering commitment to brokering a peaceful resolution to N Korean tensions.

 

It's not a failure it is mediocre, its what any other president would have done, and it is exactly what Trump criticizes his predecessor's for doing. Remember the Iran deal Trump criticized, at least that deal actually forced Iran to give up weapons grade material. I hope it does lead to peace that would be great but you can't praise Trump for appearing peaceful when we was the person stocking the fire in the first place. It is one of the oldest tricks in the book.

What Trump agreed to was nothing more than a pinky promise, nothing hard set, nothing tangible, nothing verifiable.

Oh I'm sure Obama could have gotten Kim to surrender himself to the International Court in Hague to stand trial for crimes against humanity, had been given another 24 hrs. on top of his 2 consecutive terms. Obama accomplished nothing, just like his predecessors accomplished nothing. Trump inherited an enormous task, and he's risen to the challenge.

You have seen. The text is provided. These are the sentiments the 2 leaders expressed. The initial "meeting of the minds" was successful. Kim and Trump both agree on that.

 

Do you feel they are worth the expense? If Kim makes any further threats it's likely that the President can respond quite quickly.

 

I believe it's all political theatre. There are no specifics in the statement. No deadlines. Nothing.

Almost everyone understand this is just the beginning and an agreement outlining the goals was signed by both parties. Later the State Department will work out the finer details, along with their NoKo counterparts, and it may all take a couple of years.
