I suppose they can rape some kid, and then go to another pedo preist in confession, wash away their sins, and exchange info about which kids are the most fun.

And now the evangelical church has become a Trump boot licker. The separation of church and state is gone. But let's look at the facts: as far back as the Mayan religion in 2500 B.C. and right through the Egyptian religion and on to today, the whole point of religion has been provide hope of immortality and a pathway to "realize" it. Thus, a fantasy led to a mythical system that lends the fantasy some credibility in the minds of some. It's amazing to me that even in the 21st century the most advanced countries still have a sizable population that accepts and follows religious myths.

Religion is just a tool, not bad or good itself. I think that people like ML King found a true inspiration in religion.
I prefer the moderate religious people to some spiritual-less sicko western people. Personnaly, I love stoician morality.

I would never claim there are no religious people who practice their faith with dedication that is honorable and exemplary. But does the good outweigh the evil? The evil in question here carries some pretty damned heavy weight. How many good deeds balance one child molestation? Is the church today responsible for more good than evil?

Today's Christian church has strayed VERY far from what it was in its first 16 centuries. It has kept up with politics in its evolution.

I wasn't around in the 16 th century, but I'm guessing it was always as bad, even worse, but few had computer or telephone contact with others.

I don't really believe in a good could balance an evil. A good is a good, an evil is an evil. Let's suppose for instance than someone saved thousand of people but murdered someone. His evil would outweight is good ? He would still have a positive sum in the end.

Religion reflect human nature, there is good and evil inside. That's the same for religious people, there is good religious people, bad one.

Religion ruled our societies for thousand of years, and we're still alive. Even if religion sometimes opposed science, most of our scientific progress were made in very religious societies. Atheism exist for a few decades.

And atheism itself is empty. It just says "we don't believe in any supernatural entity or phenomenons".

It doesn't have any values itself. It's rather interesting that there is a lot of suicide jokes in the memes who are a reflect of the most recent generations.

I don't believe in any supernatural phenomenon, but I believe in the power of symbolism, I think there is very beautifull symbolisms in some religious ceremonies. And religion tend to bond people together too.

I live in a cultureless country who once betrayed catholicism, I notice however that there is a true solidarity and bond between muslims and jews. Solidarity and bond that doesn't exist with athees, or very few with christian, which explain why most leave their religion.

As much as I despise Islam, partly for personnal reasons, I understand that the "umma" is like a family for a lot of people.

No, it could not balance. That is my point.

Yup. Religion reflects the nature of "the natural man who receiveth not the things of the Spirit". It has become worldly. Not so during the days of monastic practice.

Most people have values just as often as church-goers do.

That's easy and arrogant to you. First, I don't agree with that concept of "balance", good is good, evil and evil is evil. That's so easy to you to spit on all people who were religious over the time, they lived in much harsher conditions you ever lived. There is no possibility to "weight" a good or an evil.

I'm not a native english speaker, I may have misunderstood. Do you qualify the religious people of being dumb ?

I didn't said that athees doesn't have any moral values, I says that the notion of atheism doesn't have any moral concept itself. It state a belief, a probable belief however.

Not a good analogy, many religions have conflicting moral values, what will get you in heaven in one, puts you in hell in another.

an atheist doesn't have to listen to someone else's idea, of what is moral and what is not. He makes his own decision.

    No. "Worldly", your higness.

Right. Belief that it will rain tomorrow has not inherent moral values either. Lots of things are like that.

It's not about having to listen someone else. I don't think that wiseness is natural. You have to listen philosophers, experience things to become wiser. If you don't listen people, if you don't read ancient people, you're missing hundred of years of wiseness. Furthermore, beyond the simply moral point of view, there is the notion of support. A good religious community is bounded together, an athee is most of the time is alone. By the way, religion create a problem of the "moral license", the fact that some people are right because they belong to the right side.

My bad. I'm quick to call people arrogant because I'm the best at being arrogant.

The thing is that the parents are well aware of the dark nature of the priests. But they don't care. So they continue to pimp their kids out to them in the hope that they will be able to get a sack full of money in the future. Cases such as these have been in the news for decades. Today, any parent that allows their children to associate with priests is simply engaging in prostitution of their children.

Watch what happens. In a few months or a year some other "victims" will come forth with more allegations hoping that they will get a larger payout than this crop gets. It's all about the money.

GOOD, the Catholic Church, one of the wealthiest entities in the world, should pay and pay and pay and pay…..especially since they STILL support child raping priests....

Those parents who allowed their kids to "associate" with priests are called "Catholics".

The reason these cases aren't all coming out at once is that there is a well proven conspiracy among the clergy (all the way to the Pope) preventing that.

What needs to be watched is whether the criminals will ever come to court.

We already know that the list of criminals that was released does NOT include all known sex criminals, because those releasing the list stated that they had deleted many names from the list.

According to CNN the vatican was sent this report back in May.

Just shutup goyim, shove it under the rug and keep your children in the pews.

For several years Pennsylvania has been working on changing their law on what charges may be brought so that older cases may be prosecuted.

This report should help move toward laws that hold more of the criminals responsible for their heinous crimes.

I don't know what the church is doing - besides attempting to defend their wealth.

But, the response to this information by officials of Catholicism needs to be closely watched.

It just came out that in one case, the church gave a clean report on a known sex pervert who applied for a job at a Disney theme park!

Is it true that the larger and more established the organization, the louder the cry against wrong doing is? For example the cries to Catholic Churches, which are usually pretty large and established, verses the more smaller less known Independent Churches...

Surely small churches would find it easier to go rogue, given that they have less oversight.

In the case of the Catholic church, there were levels of complicity from the laity all the way up the chain. In fact, this problem with the RCC has come out over and over again - this isn't the first time the RCC has had this kind of problem. It's not a localized crime. It's an international conspiracy that has been known for years!

And, there is still opposition to these sex criminals being held to account.

I do believe (and hope) the cry is louder when the crime is larger. And, the type, number, breadth and length of the criminal activity is absolutely astounding.

One has to wonder what it will take.

What would need to be done before YOU would send your son to one of these churches to be trained in catechism?
