Its astonishing that after finding out there is no Santa Clause, Easter Bunny, tooth fairy, fairy good mother, leprechauns, ghosts, witches, and demons; after inventing cars, jets, space ships, rockets, artificial hearts, and vaccines against polio, measles, cholera, whooping cough, scarlet fever; that humans still believe in a mystical being that can change coke cans into giraffes that give birth to Mack trucks that can reason. God is a delusion that is psychologically destroying man as a creative being able to live gloriously, prosperously, wonderfully and lovingly as the most powerful force on not just Earth, but within the universe.
And yet you liberals tried casting spells against president Trump. Witches cast 'mass spell' against Donald Trump Most of Donald Trump's opponents believe they will have to wait four more years to see him leave the White House. But America's witches are more optimistic. At the stroke of midnight on Friday, followers of witchcraft across the US performed a mass spell designed to stop the president doing harm. A Facebook group devoted to the ritual has attracted over 10,500 likes, and coined the hashtag #magicresistance. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39090334 Looks like you believe in magic after all.
Ah, an Objectivist: Ayn Rand: "They claim that they perceive a mode of being superior to your existence on this earth. The mystics of spirit call it “another dimension,” which consists of denying dimensions. The mystics of muscle call it “the future,” which consists of denying the present. To exist is to possess identity. What identity are they able to give to their superior realm? They keep telling you what it is not, but never tell you what it is. All their identifications consist of negating: God is that which no human mind can know, they say—and proceed to demand that you consider it knowledge—God is non-man, heaven is non-earth, soul is non-body, virtue is non-profit, A is non-A, perception is non-sensory, knowledge is non-reason. Their definitions are not acts of defining, but of wiping out." http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/supernaturalism.html
Still waiting for you guys to prove He isn't real. I wonder what's taking you so long. Go ahead and explain to us scientifically how life began. Better yet, duplicate it in a laboratory and I will say that God doesn't exist. What's actually funny is that the "scientific" community uses the exact same definition for the creation of the universe and everything else that Christians use for explaining how God did it. The difference is that Christians call it God and science calls it natural. Its the exact same cause and effect however only that we don't know what actually began it. And remember that science itself tells us that until something can be ruled out that it must remain a possibility. By saying there is no chance that a God is responsible means you are denying science.
I guess I'm sort of a horse of another color or gray area believer. I do believe we were created and put on this planet by a higher intelligence but not that it was just one being. I also don't believe in life after death or the santa clause theory that if you've been good, you'll be rewarded in the next life. Unfortunately, I think we get one shot and this is it. And here's where I really go off the rails....because some people seem so blessed compared to others, not because they're deserving or simply better human beings but just always seem to be in the right place at the right time, I wonder if we're all just part of a large experiment and our purpose for existence has nothing to do with our deeds, nor are the rewards given reflect that. It would definitely explain why some people have such magnificent luck and can't avoid good fortune no matter what while others can't catch a break if they worked three jobs to pay for it. You know like the Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Oprah, Beyonce, and Jay Z types. Were they better human beings so they were blessed? Hardly....wouldn't exactly put them in the same category as mother Theresa who spent her entire life living and dying in squallor to serve others less fortunate in 3td world shiitholes. And it doesn't account for those backstabbing types at the office who get the promotion who are far less qualified or deserving either. So if being "good" gets you nowhere and being rotten works like a charm, what's the common denominator? What if before existence all life enters a life lottery of sorts meaning a very intricate story of existence like a movie plot that was written far in advance and we, depending on when we're born, play whatever part is needed at that time? Maybe we're just here to be entertainment for some beings?
I am not different from you in this. Understanding what God is from a few Bible passages isn't really possible. The fact that there was a creator and I believe that He left guidance on my next step is enough for me. I'm sure the rest will be explained later. As a major conspiracy girl I also go off the rails. I believe that God used aliens to seed our world and that they are currently monitoring us. Not really related to God, they were just His tool, but it is an experiment to them. As for your last point I can't really comment other than personal experience. I have had things in my life that were truly disastrous but I always pulled through. Not by winning the lottery or being successful but always just enough to keep me out of trouble or danger. I can never explain nor prove it to you but I know it was God. There are simply too many weird things that shouldn't have happened that did for it to be coincidence. Many atheists say, "well if God was real why would he make you suffer"? Well maybe to prove a point. So that I would believe in Him and to show me that my reward isn't on this little planet where I will spend just a blink of an eye on but rather what I could have for eternity?
Religion was invented in ancient times to control the masses so that they would obey the Pharaoh. The Jews brought it with them out of Egypt. The Christian Jews then brought it to the Roman Empire. Constantine ensured it would spread all over the empire in the Christian form. His mother and father were both Christian. From there it spread to Europe. Even the Asians have a form of religion from Hindu, Confucius, Siddharta, and the Japanese Shinto.
Yeh thats it! When man gets pissed at religion he invents ethics (the atheist version of religion) and follows with civil laws to control the people! even how long they can let their lawns grow! At least it doesnt have the evol religion label hated by all atheists, well almost, except lavey of course he loves religion.
From the youngest age, humans are conditioned to believe fiction and fantasy. Organized religion is the greatest facilitator of that effort. It is no wonder we believe everything we're told by priests and authority figures.
Except some atheists have became Christians after looking into Christianity trying to disprove it. That's not supposed to happen, at least if you're an atheist.
Amount that same as that God thing in The Crusades, The Inquisition, The Salem Witch Trials, and The Twin Towers.
How are you defining 'atheist'? An aversion to organized religion does not make one an atheist in the strict sense of the word. In my dictionary it uses God, not god, suggesting the Christian God. I think there are nuances being ignored there.
You are absolutely right, some atheists have abandoned atheism for Christianity; more the worst for them. It is very foolish, dangerous, and suicidal to abandon reason for faith. It will ultimately lead to mass slaughter on a genocidal scale. At the same time, some Christians have rejected Christ and chosen Atheism, and to the extent, they chose with reason, they chose wisely. That's because reason leads to peace, love, progress, prosperity, happiness, and the only true ever-after life, immortality created by science. Not in the sense that Man won't die, only that, for the most part, he will choose when, if ever. You see the choice isn't really Non-God vs God, its simply, reason or faith, reality or fantasy, selfishness or self-sacrifice, life or death. All of history demonstrates faith creates hell on earth, and that reason creates a wondrous world of dizzying delights. So, delusion or reality? Dr. Leonard Peikoff: "Every argument for God and every attribute ascribed to Him rests on a false metaphysical premise. None can survive for a moment on a correct metaphysics. For instance, God is infinite. Nothing can be infinite, according to the Law of Identity. Everything is what it is, and nothing else. It is limited in its qualities and in its quantity: it is this much, and no more. “Infinite” as applied to quantity does not mean “very large”: it means “larger than any specific quantity.” That means: no specific quantity—i.e., a quantity without identity. This is prohibited by the Law of Identity. Is God the creator of the universe? There can be no creation of something out of nothing. There is no nothing. Is God omnipotent? Can he do anything? Entities can act only in accordance with their natures; nothing can make them violate their natures . . . “God” as traditionally defined is a systematic contradiction of every valid metaphysical principle. The point is wider than just the Judeo-Christian concept of God. No argument will get you from this world to a supernatural world. No reason will lead you to a world contradicting this one. No method of inference will enable you to leap from existence to a “super-existence.”http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/god.html
