There is more than one meaning of survival of the fittest. It just means whomever is fittest will survive, whether that be socially, physically, or mentally.

    so what's your other option?

    Government right?

Sorry. Republicans and democrats despise each other with a passion! It's all about survival of the fittest, alright, and I'm not betting on the democrats.

You are not only wrong and painfully ignorant but your premise is flawed.

This is a brilliant post. I may have to steal it. Use it in response to the bleatings of those who feel they should be able to behave like irresponsible, selfish, and unpleasant children all their lives - then expect others to pick them up when they can no longer get away with it. And there are SO many who think this way.

Using precious resources to prop up f###wits who selfishly spend their lives misbehaving, is the least human/e thing you can do. It's actually outrageous.

Nah I'm willing to compromise on the misbehaving part. In fact if someone is addicted to drugs they should lose partial healthcare benefits if not all of them till going straight. The only benefits they should receive is the ability to have that drug check up. Citizenship benefits must be earned at all times. Also they need to be full US citizens, born to US citizens, not granted it by fiat. I could go on but someone else has given a pretty good list in another thread.

"Compromise" in this instance is a luxury we can ill afford. Whenever we pander to spoiled babies (and all who elect to F up their lives are spoiled babies) we cost the person in genuine need. And it doesn't need to go anywhere near serious addiction. It's on every one of us to establish and maintain solid and reciprocal relationships throughout life. Just choosing to be an a-whole to everyone you know, is enough to leave you destitute and alone in your old age.

Maintaining solid or respectful relationships is not the end all of being a productive citizen and says nothing about being able to pay for that cancer treatment.

    Complete nonsense.

The lack of Medicare for ALL is a death sentence for almost everyone.

Once again: Just choosing to be an a-whole to everyone you know, is enough to leave you destitute and alone in your old age.

Meantime, an important part of harmonious domestic and social relations is the benefit to the coffers - for all members of the clan.

With single payer, the system becomes more important than the patient. System health will require rationing and long wait times. You see this in every single payer systems. You see this now in the VA system.

The US government spends far more public money (per person) than the British government

    This is downright idiotic.

But it is one of the scare lines that the GOP is using to scare its base.

Always tell the one group that has the benefit everyone else deserves that that benefit will come at thier cost. It's part of the zero sum gain notion that underlines so much conservative political marketing.

In fact, offering single payer health care to seniors in the form of Medicare, improved the health and extended the life expectancies of all Americans.

Your claim is patently false. It was debunked in the 1960's, by real events.
