We just heard from Trump's long-time personal attorney who testified under oath and implicated Trump in no fewer than eleven felonies, including several that can be corroborating by reviewing his tax returns and (and this important) cross referencing his tax returns against other documents. To claim that there is no evidence to support Congress getting Trump's tax returns is absolutely false.

That important note also addresses something else you raise: Namely, why investigate if the IRS has not found any wrongdoing. Let us set aside that you are making a massive assumption (namely that Trump is telling the truth) to believe that the IRS has even audited him. You also assume that the IRS is incapable of missing tax violations. Finally, and most importantly, you are not providing a reason that Congress should stop their investigation. Specifically, the fact that the IRS has been publicly silent about his tax returns does mean that Congress should stop attempting to act as an important of oversight over the President.
