The tariffs hurt our exports to China which fell by $18.4 Billion, some 26% in the 6 months ending in March 2019 compared to the prior year.Cutting off ones nose to spite ones face?

Right now the GDP per person in the us is a little over $131,000.
So if we brought back the 420 billion trade deficit at that rate we would add 3 million jobs.
If the 25% tariff accomplished that (it won't) that would be 100 billion in tariffs or $33,000 a year taxpayer subsidy per job.
Better to invest that money in something that will make us money not cost us money.

I have no idea where you got your GDP per capita for the USA, the highest one I find is $62,606 from the IMF.

Dirty Donald now attacking Toyota which has spent billions building and manufacturing in the USA.Cannot wait for all the countries he has attacked telling their populations to avoid every hotel with the TRUMP name on it and each and every golf course. His vanity of putting his name on everything he controls should make it real easy to boycott his holdings.

Not what he is attempting to do. Forget about the rich in Hollywood, but tech companies because the tax law allows them to use loop holes and investments to avoid paying taxes.

In fact why do Dem voters support these people and why do you think these rich support Democrats?

BECAUSE the democrats take their money and pass laws to help them to not owe taxes. While the Middle Class Democrat voters pay more then their rich Democratic voters.

The Democrats pass laws to keep the Middle Class and poor down.

I am sick of how stupid Democrat voters are. Read the history of Socialism stArting with the Greeks and Romans.

Quite a few companies were sold to Hong Kong holding companies who then closed the factories in the United States and began to build the products in China. IBM, which created the standard personal computer (the original PC) sold their computer business to Leveno.

It is not just jobs that have gone to China, but also profits.

    Toyota is a foreign company

We cannot expect them to be loyal to America

But GM is a different story

It deserves criticims for building cars in china to sell in America

It's not just electronics and autos we allowed to go offshore, it is virtually every manufacturing industry, clothing shoes sneakers boots furniture you name it, American companies stopped making it here and had it all manufactured where they could find workers for next to nothing with no benefits. But did they lower their prices, NO in most cases they raised them,GREED IS THE GREAT CAPITALIST MOTIVATOR.

yes, my guess is that he uses the tariffs collected to say that his tax policy is bringing in the money. But in this case I am fine with the tax,. Don't buy Chinese goods for a year. Manufactures like Levis will come back or go to India Where some of the best denim is made anyway. .

Hammer meet nail. Tariffs have always been a staple of Democratic policies as they fought to save union jobs.
now due to orange man bad politics, they are against tariffs against a country that even they admit does not play fair.

    Let's do some simple math:

Average deficit with China over the past ten years was 300 million a year - we sold them about 200 billion each year while they sold us about 500 billion each year for an annual 300 billion deficit. That the US imposed near zero tarriffs while China levied an average 10% tariff, not counting the depressed yuan the Chinese government maintained.

At the deficit rate we have been facing, our grandchildren will live in a subservient Chinese colony owing everything to the Chinese hegemony

No matter how you look at it, the US was and still is getting screwed - bitching about tariffs that have near zero impact on our economy makes no sense - that President Trump has no problem recognizing and adjusting policy errors is good for the US. As long as President Trump fights the good fight, we will win.

Sneaker and footwear makers got together to send a letter to Dirty Donald asking him to reconsider his tariffs as the old and the new tariffs will be equal to 100% of the products costs.

So far the administration has just added another $16 Billion to the $12 Billion it had previously allocated to give relief to the farmers who have been harmed by the misguided tariff policies. Now the total of taxpayer funded relief is $28 BILLION.
